Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will work in dynamic, international teams comprised of people with a wide range of experience and competencies to develop technology and innovation for ABB's Motion and Electrification Business Areas. In this position you will report to the Research Department Manager and will conduct groundbreaking initiatives in generative AI with a focus on agentic use cases, multi-agent frameworks, and advanced reasoning capabilities. You will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing state-of-the-art solutions that push the boundaries of what generative models can achieve in real-world scenarios. The work model for the role is: Onsite You will be mainly accountable for: • Design and implement cutting-edge generative AI algorithms for large-scale training, fine-tuning, and deployment; Architect complex, multi-agent systems capable of achieving autonomous, real-world actions. • Optimize reasoning properties in LLMs to enhance decision-making and problem-solving abilities; Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across R&D, Engineering, and other functions to deliver impactful solutions. • Coordinate with team members in applying advanced AI techniques to solve challenging problems; Stay at the forefront of AI research by exploring developments in LLMs and multimodal AI systems; Innovate methods to generate high-quality synthetic data for domain-specific applications; Build scalable, reusable solutions leveraging technologies like vector databases and retrieval-augmented generation, knowledge graphs, etc. • Maintain and enhance existing frameworks to ensure efficiency, reliability, and usability; Drive experiments and contribute to publications, patents, and conference presentations; Contribute and critique new ideas, features, solutions, and evaluation strategies. Qualifications for the role
- Bachelor degree PLUS 2 years experience in advanced AI research, software development, or related discipline OR Masters degree OR PhD (degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field preferred).
- Expertise in training and fine-tuning large-scale generative models, including GPT, BERT, and multimodal models.
- Strong knowledge of deep learning architectures (CNNs, RNNs, GANs, VAEs) and frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
- Proven experience in architecting multi-agent systems and understanding their coordination challenges.
- Deep understanding of vector databases and retrieval-augmented generation at scale.
- Demonstrated ability to optimize reasoning capabilities in LLMs for complex tasks.
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
