This isn't just a job; it's a chance to take charge of projects that make an impact, applying cutting-edge engineering techniques while collaborating with top-notch professionals. Be prepared to pack your bags-travel or relocation to supplier, client, or construction site locations might just be part of the adventure!
What You'll Do:
- Dive into shop and field testing for switchgear and motor control center equipment.
- Lead electrical engineering efforts for powerhouse projects in midstream gas processing, petroleum refining, petrochemical, and upstream oil & gas industries.
- Channel your expertise into designing medium and low voltage power distribution, grounding, lighting, motor control, variable frequency drives, and beyond.
- Run power studies-think load flow, short circuit, relay coordination, motor starting, and arc flash-to define distribution facility needs in industrial plants.
- Partner with engineering disciplines, project managers, equipment suppliers, and clients to make magic happen.
- Review and greenlight critical electrical design deliverables, from wiring diagrams and one-line diagrams to power and control cable schedules and beyond.
- Craft scopes of work and juggle design milestones, staffing schedules, and engineering hour estimates like a pro.
- Ensure issues impacting scope, budget, or schedule are spotted early and flagged promptly.
- Keep the collaboration flowing-coordinate design details with other disciplines and the Project Manager.
- Connect with the client's electrical representative to make sure communication is crystal clear and deliverables hit the mark.
- Innovate and refine design principles to push boundaries when needed.
What You Bring to the Table:
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering (required).
- 5+ years of experience (preferred but not set in stone).
- EIT licensure (required); P.E. by exam (bonus points!).
- Mastery in specifying LV and MV transformers, switchgear, motor controls, and variable frequency drives.
- Substation expertise-think of it as your secret superpower.
- Solid skills in industrial power system analysis using SKM tools or equivalent modeling software.
- Familiarity with National Electrical Code and API standards, especially for electrical installations in hazardous zones.
Physical Stamina & Practicalities:
- Sit, stand, walk, and carry-sometimes up to fifty pounds-with ease.
- Take on property walks and yard tours like a champ.
