Senior Engineer

The Senior Engineer provides a combination of technical expertise, leadership, professionalism, and collaboration in support of the development and implementation of innovative repair services for both motor and generators. This position will be responsible for supporting Repair Centers and field work resolving technical concerns, supporting Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) and other engineering standard practices to support excellent design acumen.

Essential Functions
  • Experience with high voltage/ current AC and DC equipment
  • Familiarity with and application of AutoCAD and SolidWorks for design, MathCAD and COSMOS-M (finite element program) analysis or other equivalent modeling software
  • Requires ability to work in an office environment as well within a manufacturing shop environment where exposed to extreme temperatures and exposed to higher notice levels.
  • Participates with other departments and engineers in service / repair discussions in support of proposals or work execution
  • Assists in representing technical matters to customers
  • Provides support to the team working through technical challenges
  • Acts as a technical resource for base technical and commercial offering

Required Skills:
  • Education: B.S. or M.S. Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Degree preferred - open to other based on combination of degree and direct technical experience
  • The successful candidate should possess 3+ years of experience with electrical motor design, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with high voltage/ current AC and DC equipment
  • Familiarity with and application of AutoCAD and SolidWorks for design, MathCAD and COSMOS-M (finite element program) analysis or other equivalent modeling software
  • License: Professional Engineer (PEng / PE) license preferred but not required
  • Entrepreneur spirit with a solid technical background

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Strong Knowledge of Mechanical Engineering Principles: proficiency in applying principles of engineering, electrical engineering discipline, and advanced mathematics for analysis, design, and troubleshooting, specifically in the following areas:
  • Electromechanical Motor or Generator Design
  • Advanced diagnostic assessments to troubleshoot motor, generator and control issues with applicable test equipment
  • Fabrication, manufacturing, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting
  • Reverse engineering principles and process
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving techniques
  • Able to perform Root Cause Failure Analysis and Failure Mode Effects Analyses
  • Ability to take ownership and accountability
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing job requirements
  • Ability to work in a team environment and display leadership skills
  • Positive attitude and customer focus
