US Energy Storage Regulatory Market Policy Director
Locations: FULLY REMOTE (Anywhere in the USA)
This an opportunity to join an industry leading renewable energy venture and IPP with strong private equity backing that is focused on the development/execution of dynamic utility-scale energy storage projects. They are at the forefront of the industry, have accumulated over 9GW+ of projects in a relatively short period of time, and are currently in an accelerated expansion phase.
The US Regulatory Market Policy Director is an external facing role that will take on a nationwide scope of work that covers ISOs/RTOs in the US and Canada. A key focus of the role will be identifying and creating market based growth opportunities, risk mitigation strategies, transmission market monitoring/participation, & power market development through public policy initiatives for innovative utility-scale energy storage projects. Strategic leadership experience with Transmission Market Design, Policy, or ISO/RTO competitive market frameworks including but not limited to direct exposure supporting ERCOT, ISO-NE, PJM, MISO, WECC, and CAISO.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- US Renewables Regulatory Market Policy Director - Develops & implements tactical corporate strategies to manage project regulatory efforts including influencing policy development across all Independent System Operators (ISOs) and Regional Transmission Operators (RTOs)
- US Renewables Regulatory Market Policy Director - Drives the identification of opportunities/threats based on the company's project development objectives through the support of RFPs and drafting/negotiating of market design proposals
- US Renewables Regulatory Market Policy Director - Acts as a Regulatory Subject Matter Expert (SME) to the Project development, EPC, transmission market analytics teams for ISO/RTO filings and other state filling protocols
- US Renewables Regulatory Market Policy Director - Represents the company as a functional external leader driving collaboration across the Policy Team as well as other internal stakeholders to impact market design FERC, Tarifs, Utility, and Market Reliability initiatives
- US Renewables Regulatory Market Policy Director - Internal and external stakeholder management working with industry associations, legislators, and regulators on regulatory policy as well as market design initiatives
- US Renewables Regulatory Market Policy Director - Leads policy discussions across notable renewable energy / battery storage industry associations, groups, and policy influencing platforms
- US Renewables Regulatory Market Policy Director - Works hands-on with Asset Management, Operations, and EPC teams to help evaluate/assess reliability standards as well as project requirements based on market compliance standards
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Utility-scale renewable energy regulatory affairs and market policy experience working with IPPs / Developers / Owners
- Corporate leadership and stakeholder management experience dealing with regulatory bodies across the ISOs and RTOs nationwide
- MUST have PROVEN market design, public policy, and regulatory experience across multiple markets
- PROVEN SUCCESS leading state level and wholesale market regulatory policy initiatives by leveraging your understanding of ISO/RTO rules
- Successful track record navigating complex regulatory initiatives for utility scale renewable energy; ENERGY STORAGE is a HUGE PLUS
- Very well versed in regulatory commercial negotiation and risk mitigation tactics
- Direct experience with the renewable energy legislation process as it relates to project development
- Ability to participate (or quickly learn to participate) in advance level discussions in the utility-scale renewables (solar...wind..storage), transmission, and battery storage space
- Experience with renewables battery storage or energy storage projects is NOT required but HIGHLY DESIRABLE
