Fantastic opportunity to join one of the world’s leading Oil, Gas and Energy companies that have been operating in New Zealand for around 120 years. They are currently seeking a Terminal Safety Operator to join their Mt Maunganui based team.

This person will provide supervision to lead and manage Operations Excellence during Mt Maunganui Projects, along with being responsible and accountable for all project work to meet our clients’ operational and SSHE Controls and Engineering requirements.

The role also requires active participation in all areas of the terminal Operations and Maintenance when necessary, providing a varied and challenging working environment, where learning and development is continuous.

Key responsibilities of the role will include, but not limited to:
  • Support the Terminal and Site Engineer to achieve site project objectives routinely and communicate status of work planned and performed.
  • Champion project safety plans and offer improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in project commissioning practices to ensure a smooth transition of project to operations.
  • Maintain relationships with contractors and local authorities, keeping work crew morale and enthusiasm high through extended project working hours.
  • Organize and run monthly project safety meetings, toolboxes and any stand-downs.
  • Full compliance with the Work Control Permit system and be the lead Project Permit writer.
  • Assist marine operations including tanker discharging and bunkering.
  • Assist with terminal side operations and maintenance such as working the load rack, completing PPM’s, and general terminal housekeeping.
 
Required skills and qualifications:
  • Demonstrated work experience in project safety-related positions.
  • Knowledge of permitting and safety processes and procedures.
  • Proficient in use of computers and programs such as Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver excellence in project SSHE performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop successful internal and external working relationships with emphasis on interacting in a team environment and promoting a safe working environment.
  • Ability to set priorities and work independently.
  • Willingness to be apart of operations and assist other departments when required towards team goals.
  • Operations experience in any heavy industry is advantageous.
