Wood is currently recruiting for a Project Director to work within their Caspian business within Operations. This role can be either rotational or residential based in Baku, Azerbaijan

• Accountable for the safe delivery and leadership of large or complex Brownfield Projects through the full project lifecycle from pursuit, start-up, concept/select, FEED, execute to close out.
• Creating a delivery excellence culture across the region providing predictable delivery and confidence to internal and external sponsor requirements
• Provide strategic start-up support on Projects during the transition from award into full EPC/EPCm phases
• Build and expand capability for delivering projects working in conjunction with the General Director and leadership team
• Leading best in class control ensuring the project teams success of project requirements, schedule management, cost control and risk management
• Monitor and report on key project preparedness and provide summary reporting to the General Director of Wood Azerbaijan
• Contributes to and reviews the project proposals to establish achievable timeframes, procedures required for accomplishing the project, resource requirements, commercial strategy, legal entity, and allotment of available resources to various phases of the project.
• Ensure project execution plans follow all statutory and company operating requirements

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Liaise with peers to identify projected personnel resource requirements and potential shortfalls, whilst ensuring cost effective utilisation of all personnel resources, considering individual competencies and commercial requirements within identified projects.
• Leads ongoing focus on risk management and mitigation during project execution
• Participate in assurance activities and peer reviews
• Advanced knowledge of quantitative risk analysis incorporating results in the projects
• Participate in the review of key proposals and tenders, ensuring the submission reflects the correct business process and capabilities
• Ensure all proposed execution plans operate within the agreed company business management system, HR and HSE policies and standards.

Leadership

• Passionately pursues and supports, demonstrates and embeds Wood values.
• Is a champion and role model for ethical behaviour and compliance with applicable laws and
  policies.
• Oversees proposals and call-offs (may be individual projects) within delegation of authority,
  ensuring compliance with contracting policy and standards of ethical conduct.
• Teaches and empowers others to make decisions within established parameters
• Act as a mentor for the project management community to ensure experience and learnings are shared more widely.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Previously held Project Manager / Senior Project Manager / Project Director roles with accountability for capex projects greater than $50M.
• Requires broad and extensive pertinent experience in project management delivery in complex brownfield projects.
• Strong operational experience built, most probably in the energy sector.
• Expert in stakeholder management with experience in managing challenging interfaces and able to coach and mentor others.
• Experience of implementing successful project performance improvement activities and techniques.
• Sound experience in commercial and technical risk management.
• Good understanding of legal documentation and contractual matters.
