Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead the Quality Assurance team, providing training, guidance, and performance management.
- Oversee quality control procedures to ensure compliance with FDA regulations, FSMA, HACCP, GMPs, and other food safety standards.
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance programs, policies, and SOPs.
- Conduct internal audits, inspections, and root cause analyses for deviations, non-conformances, and customer complaints.
- Work closely with production, sanitation, and R&D teams to identify and resolve quality issues proactively.
- Ensure all documentation, including batch records, testing logs, and regulatory paperwork, is accurate and up to date.
- Coordinate third-party audits and regulatory inspections, addressing any findings in a timely manner.
- Monitor raw material and finished product quality, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance food safety and quality processes.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, regulatory updates, and best practices in food manufacturing.
Essential skills and knowledge
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, or a related field preferred.
- 3-5 years of quality assurance experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- 2+ years of direct management experience leading QA professionals.
- Strong knowledge of FDA regulations, HACCP, GMPs, and food safety standards.
- Experience with third-party audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections.
- Proficiency in developing and implementing quality assurance programs and food safety plans.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate across departments.
- Experience with data analysis, reporting, and quality metrics.
- Certification in HACCP, SQF, or PCQI is a plus.
