Are you ready to take the lead as our Safety Engineer? Join our team and be a part of a major project in Paris, France. As a Lead Safety Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and compliance of our project, while working on a full-time contract basis.
Role Overview
- Accountable for all matters related to safety engineering, ensuring fit for purpose and compliance with the Statement Of Requirement.
- Represent the technical authority for the company in this discipline.
- Prepare and suggest technical content for essential studies to initiate contractor action and ensure conformity with state of the art plant design.
- Define overall safety concepts and engineering principles to meet company requirements, applicable regulations, and good engineering practices.
- Supervise all subcontracted studies and provide support to other packages with the assistance of headquarters specialists.
- Propose recommendations for technical deviation requests and maintain updated documentation related to the safety discipline.
- Participate in studies required by third parties.
- Communicate and apply HSE policies of the company and ensure engineering is developed accordingly.
- Ensure correct implementation of company rules and specifications, project specifications, relevant international standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Update project Safety Concept document as needed during EPC phase.
- Lead review of contractor's key deliverables such as Safety Concept, Safety Philosophies, Safety distances calculations notes, QRA/FRA/ERA, and consolidate comments from other engineering disciplines and operations.
- Provide technical assistance for any required technical audits, such as those requested by banks, insurance companies, or Board of Directors, HAZOP, PR, etc.
- Report potential impact on overall project strategy, planning, and target achievement.
- Promote workshops with headquarters specialists and/or contractor's specialists to ensure company concepts and comments are well understood and quickly integrated into technical documents.
- Guide contractor's main design selection in a Fit-for-Purpose approach to reach an optimized design. Promote and follow until approval of deviation requests to company requirements.
- Ensure efficient review of applicable frame of reference.
- Participate actively in proper interface management with Process, Piping, Electrical, Instrumentation studies carried out during EPC phase.
- Review and comment on key technical documents of interfacing disciplines such as Process, piping, instrumentation, rotating machines, as well as project procedures if required.
- Participate in Project HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, Risk reduction Workshop, TRA reviews, and PR.
- Organize weekly meetings with counterpart discipline and report highlights to management with proposed mitigation measures when necessary.
- Participate in internal engineering weekly meetings.
- Provide technical inputs for any contractual discussions with contractor.
- Contribute to development of digital plant through centric data management when applicable.
- Participate in audits of risk-contractors if needed.
- Ensure design validity and coherence with other disciplines.

Skills & Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Qualifications: Chartered Technical Safety Engineer or equivalent preferred.
- Experience: 10-15 years' experience in Oil & Gas Industry or Construction field preferred.
- Experience in similar position: +10 years preferred.
