In this paid internship, you will work on modeling and simulation of bypass flow in prismatic High-Temperature Gas Reactors (HTGRs) using the open-source code NekRS/5000 and the commercial code STAR-CCM+. The objective of the internship includes developing CFD models using the two codes and creating a benchmark specification. You will report to the Thermal Fluid Systems Methods and Analysis group. The ideal candidate will have experience with reactor physics and design, thermomechanical analysis, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer. This team works a 9x80 schedule and operates onsite at our Idaho Falls campus. The start date and duration of the internship vary based on project and student availability. You may be eligible for course credit for this internship if approved by your university.

Minimum Requirements:

• Graduate student enrolled full-time at an accredited college/university studying Nuclear or Mechanical Engineering
• A minimum overall (3.0) GPA
• Authorization to work in the U.S. (including CPT and OPT)
