GRAND OPENING JULY 2025!

The Nisqually Indian Tribe is developing a Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) facility on Pacific Ave in Olympia, Washington to address the opioid crisis within the Thurston County area. The Nisqually Indian Tribe is passionate about developing a whole person recovery model, keeping all services under one roof so the patient has the best possible chance of recovery. Our goal is to bring healing and wellness to the community, focusing on the entire family by serving tribal and non-tribal patients.

Jobs are projected to start late May - early June 2025.

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Dental Hygienist performs clinical dental services which include preparation, education, and performance of comprehensive examinations in the form of periodontal therapy. The Hygienist's focus is overall oral health for clients of the Wellness Center with emphasis on skill sets for maintaining healthy periodontal status.

This position ensures confidentiality, security, and accuracy of records. The professional also promotes positive employee, customer, and community relations. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required and outstanding customer service to fellow employees, customers, vendors, etc., Is expected. Regular attendance is required, later, hours or weekend time may be required, and a neat well-groomed professional appearance is essential.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepares treatment room for patients by adhering to prescribed procedures and
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with all established procedures, rules, regulations, and safety
  • Cleanses calcareous deposits, accretions, and stains from teeth and beneath margins of gums, using dental
  • Identifies swelling or tenderness that could indicate presence of oral cancer upon examination of lymph nodes under patient's
  • Uses probes to examine gums in order to locate periodontal recessed gums and signs of gum
  • Apply fluorides and other cavity-preventing agents to arrest dental
  • Record and review patient medical history and chart conditions of decay and disease for diagnosis and treatment by
  • Maintains dental equipment and sharpens and sterilizes dental
  • Exposes and develops x-ray films.
  • Makes impressions for study
  • Removes sutures and dressings.
  • Administers local anesthetic
  • Places and removes rubber dams, matrices, and temporary
  • Places, charts, and finishes amalgam
  • Removes excess cement from coronal surfaces of
  • Maintains dental supply inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Provides clinical services and health education to improve and maintain oral health of clients of the Nisqually Generations Healing
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
  • A graduate from an accredited dental hygiene school and active
  • Possess unrestricted license to practice as a Dental Hygienist in Washington
  • Current CPR (BLS)
  • Five (5) years' experience as a Dental Hygienist is preferred.
  • Previous community clinic and/or IHS dental experience is
  • Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's license and maintain a driving record that meets the minimum requirements established by Nisqually Indian Tribe's vehicle insurance provider.
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background
  • The ability to work with vulnerable populations Including adults and children.
  • Must pass a state and national (FBI) criminal history background check prior to employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of the Nisqually Indian Tribe's history, customs, traditions, and ability to demonstrate cultural
  • Experience working with Federally Recognized Tribes.

SUPERVISION

This position does not supervise others.
