Your role and responsibilities

We are looking for a Kubernetes Engineer (m/f/d) to optimize open-source Kubernetes implementations like K3s and MicroK8s for embedded systems. Your focus will be on reducing the footprint of the control plane and node agents for resource-constrained environments. You will also develop and integrate Kubernetes orchestration for industrial real-time operating systems and edge platforms. Furthermore: • Work closely with real-time systems experts, ensure seamless integration and create Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs). • Debug and optimize Kubernetes clusters for performance, reliability, and low-latency requirements and stay up-to-date with trends/technologies. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deploy scalable architectures that meet the specific needs of industrial applications. • Develop and maintain technical documentation, ensuring that processes are well-documented and aligned with best practices.

Qualifications for the role

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience in embedded systems development.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
• Proven experience with stripping down and customizing Kubernetes implementations.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++, Rust and Python. Knowledge of Go is highly desirable.
• In-depth understanding of Linux and RT-PREEMPT, including experience with cross-compilation for embedded platforms.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes security and CRA compliance.
• Very good English skills
