Overview

The Gas Work Coordinator - Construction, under the supervision of the Gas Construction Superintendent, will be responsible for performing essential duties and responsibilities for the training and supervision of Gas Heavy Construction crews and Directional Drilling crews taking special consideration to improving quality control, production, and building good work ethics. The Gas Work Coordinator takes special assignments to look into crew dynamics and provide continuing education on best practices to improve workflow and will directly supervise construction crews. Technicians and staff will have responsibility for training new technicians.

Responsibilities
• Supervises Heavy Construction crews and Directional Drilling crews engaged in the maintenance and construction of gas piping facilities
• Evaluates crews on best practices and reporting recommendations to the Gas Construction Superintendent
• Observes decisions on scheduling construction tasks that contribute to timely completion of work ensuring that construction opportunities are fully taken advantage of to improve the integrity of the system
• Schedule random OJT's (On the job training) to ensure employees are qualified to perform task at hand
• Supervise growth of new technicians by rotating crews to ensure technicians have a wide range of knowledge and good work ethics
• Purchases and monitors equipment, materials and supplies required for activities under their responsibility
• Handles administrative and record keeping duties including Maximo work order tracking, performance evaluations, disciplinary reports, keeping daily time records and milage reports
• Directs and maintains vehicle and equipment maintenance ensuring that preventative measures are taken
• Monitors and ensuring job safety policies are adhered to by training and guiding employees in job safety procedures
• Train and guide employees by presenting and/ or planning group training sessions on operational needs
• Investigate citizens' complaints and claims against the City, and complies/ submits reports to proper authority
• Supervise staff and ensure compliance with City policies and procedures; Recruitment process; Progressive discipline
• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work
• Exempt - Full-Time
• Rotating 40-hour work week to include evenings and weekends. Must be available to work additional hours as needed.
• In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services.

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree (BA/ BS)
• Three (3) years of experience

A combination of education and experience may be considered

Licenses and Certifications

Required
• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating

A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
