Nuclear Waste Management Operations Intern

The intern will support the development of a comprehensive Deactivation and Decommissioning (D&D) Operations Plan for Argonne's Nuclear, Waste, and Site Services Division. This plan will enhance existing work planning, safety oversight, and resource management procedures for D&D projects across the Division.
The intern will help develop methods to determine oversight requirements of work tasks, establish protocols for resource allocation, and identify requirements for engineering and safety assessments in material handling operations. They will work directly with project management and subject matter experts to incorporate safety requirements and lessons learned from past projects into the plan.

The expected hiring range for this position is $19.85-$25.81.

Education and Experience Requirements
- Must possess strong technical writing and verbal communication abilities
- Must be able to understand, interpret, and apply technical standards
- Must have an attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio, etc.) strongly preferred.
- Must be currently enrolled full-time at an accredited institution and have completed at least one semester of schooling by the start of the internship.
- Provide (2) professional reference and academic advisor contact information (if/when selected).
- Undergraduate cumulative minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- 18 years or older at the time the internship begins.
- Satisfactory background check.
- Pass a screening drug test.
