Primary Purpose:
Assist in maintaining HVAC equipment district-wide.

Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
Valid Texas driver's license
Must be eligible to drive based on the Texas DPS School Transportation Guidelines EPA Freon license

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to follow oral and written instructions and the ability to communicate effectively Demonstrated skill in performing tasks required in assignment

Experience
At least 2 years' experience in HVAC

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Performs assigned tasks under the supervision of the HVAC foreman relating to air condition units (window, roof-top and centrifugal) from 1 ton - 300 tons
Capable of trouble-shooting unit controls for boilers, air conditioners, air compressors and motors (electric and pneumatic)
Workable knowledge on cleaning cooling towers and boilers
Familiar with test equipment and tools associated with HVAC equipment (gauges and electrical)
Demonstrates through goal setting a clear cut sense of direction or purpose in daily activities, performs such other tasks as assigned
Is prompt and thorough in completing and attending to details accurately and efficiently
Observes precautions required for safety when working in potentially dangerous situations, to include compliance with the Clean Air AcHVAC Technician
Completes assigned training and maintains certification to include asbestos related activities
Perform other duties as assigned.

None

Equipment Used:
Various hand tools, such as drills, socket set, screwdrivers, and test equipment and recovery machine and gauges.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Typical school atmosphere. Frequent interruptions. Strenuous standing, stooping, walking, climbing ladders, bending, pushing and pulling, must be physically fit and able to lift and carry items weighing up to 75 pounds. Working indoors, outdoors, in extreme temperatures including hot and cold temperature swings, inclement weather, works with chemicals, exposure to dust, and slippery or uneven walking surfaces. Frequent district wide travel.
