We are currently seeking a Safety Coordinator to join one of our major clients and be part of their Turnaround team based in in the Sherwood Park / Fort Saskatchewan area. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads daily safety meetings
- Verifies all turnaround safety processes have been fully implemented
- Verify receipt and quality of training documentation received
- Proven follows up process to ensure correct actions have been implemented for any incidents and near-miss reporting.
- Experience with federal, provincial, and local laws, regulations, rules, and codes are observed by contractors.
- Assist, with plan to implement move in/out contractor safety training for employee orientation programs.
- Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the client’s workplace during on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices.
- Participate in the safety observation program, submit feedback, and assure documents are begin submitted and tracked accordingly.
- Provide advice and counselling for all compliance regulations.
- Compile, analyze, and interpret incident report data to develop corrective actions to eliminate risk. Assure compliance to company safety policy handbook and site-specific policies.
- Willing to work a wide variety of scheduled days and hours for Turnaround
- Demonstrated working ability to be calm under pressure
- Consistently proven interactive approach with colleagues and contractors in the field
- 5–15 years of experience in a Safety Coordinator role (TA preferred) in refinery or petrochemical industry
- Degree in health and safety related discipline CSO or other
- Subject matter expertise in understanding regulatory policies
- Demonstrated expertise and commitment in applying corporate safety policies and procedures
- Demonstrated experience in site auditing, assessment, and coaching skills
- Good interpersonal, communication, training, and influence skills
- Motivated Positive Safety Attitude
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Good organizational and project management skills.
- Training and experience in incident investigation
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency (Word, Excel, Power point)
- Valid Canadian work permit
- A current driver's license.
