Vestas Technology & Operations (VTO) is where new product ideas are developed, matured, improved, and tested. Within VTO, you'll find our department, Functional Excellence, as part of Global Siting Solutions.
Over the past decade, Vestas has taken significant strides in high-performance computing, CFD, and mesoscale modeling for the wind industry. Our Global Siting team employs this expertise to deliver optimized, site-specific solutions to our customers.
As part of the Siting Functional Excellence team, you will be involved in integrating innovation into the siting assessment process. Through your teamwork, you will assist Vestas in advancing its position within the siting assessment.
Your work will involve cross-departmental collaboration to uphold the highest quality standards in the tools used by Vestas' global Siting community. Our siting assessments cover both onshore and offshore sites, spanning from early site development and identification to after-sales opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialized knowledge and solutions to support Siting engineers. Coordinate cross-functional teams within the Siting community to enhance specific aspects of the siting assessment process. Collaborate with stakeholders across Vestas to promote innovation in siting methodologies
  • Develop and maintain the Siting Roadmap, Tools, and Products to ensure Vestas remains at the forefront of Siting
  • Manage and facilitate the implementation of tools and processes within the Siting and Technical Bid Management domains. Stay informed on emerging trends, technologies, and regulatory changes in the wind energy industry
  • Enhance the capabilities of the Siting community by conducting training sessions and sharing knowledge. Establish connections with technical universities to develop new methodologies and optimize existing processes.Model wind flow using both linear and non-linear wind flow models, assessing uncertainties in numerical approaches. Perform due diligence and independent verification of third-party energy yield assessments. Conduct statistical analysis of wind data to evaluate site suitability and predict energy yield
  • Understand the commercial aspects of renewable energy project development, including financial modeling and risk assessment. Troubleshoot and diagnose issues related to wind turbine performance and site conditions


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Renewable Energy, Energy Conversion Systems, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • 12-15 years of experience in site suitability assessment (Wind & Site)
  • Expertise in wind resource assessment tools such as WAsP, WindPRO, OpenWind, or similar software
  • Proficiency in evaluating losses and uncertainties in wind energy projects
  • Understanding of the commercial aspects of renewable energy project development
  • Familiarity with global standards and regulations governing wind energy siting and development

Additional information
Your work location will be our office in Aarhus, Denmark.
Up to 20 travel days per year.
