Your Job:

We are looking for a postdoc to further develop probabilistic, statistical and game-theoretical methods for application in international nuclear safeguards. The tasks include:
  • Connect existing quantitative methods in international nuclear safeguards with state-of-the-art artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) algorithms
  • Contribute to standardising methodologies for calculating detection probabilities
  • Contribute to further improving and harmonizing random verification schemes, including sampling plans and random inspection schemes, and methodologies to evaluate their effectiveness
  • Review, update, and consolidate methodologies, including Bayesian methodologies, in the context of material balance evaluation

Your Profile:
  • PhD in applied mathematics, computer science, physics, or in another relevant natural or engineering science
  • Good knowledge of uncertainty quantification (including Bayesian techniques), random sampling, data evaluation methodologies, and game theory
  • Knowledge of the nuclear fuel cycle and nuclear non-proliferation approaches
  • Independent and committed way of working
  • Strong ability to work in a team as well as interest in and ability for interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Very good communication skills in English, spoken and written

We offer you an exciting and varied role in an international and interdisciplinary working environment. Limited until 30.09.26, with possible long-term prospects.
