A Lead HVAC Technician is responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. This role involves both hands-on technical work and leadership responsibilities, ensuring efficient operations and high-quality service.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, service, and repair VRF/VRV HVAC systems, including indoor and outdoor units, controllers, and associated components.
- Perform system startups, commissioning, and diagnostics to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct routine maintenance, including filter changes, refrigerant level checks, and coil cleaning.
- Diagnose system faults and troubleshoot issues related to refrigerant flow, electrical connections, and control systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and manufacturer manuals to ensure proper installation and repairs.
- Work with refrigerants following EPA guidelines and industry best practices.
- Program and calibrate system controllers for efficient climate control operation.
- Ensure compliance with local building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients and addressing their HVAC concerns.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including service reports and parts used.
- Experience in HVAC installation, maintenance, and repair, with VRF systems (Samsung, LG, Daikin, Mitsubishi, etc.). 5+ years
- Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, electrical systems, and control wiring.
- EPA 608 Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to read technical diagrams and schematics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in various environments.
- A valid driver's license may be required.
- Train, mentor, and oversee a team of HVAC technicians.
- Diagnosing and repairing technical issues
