Indiana Packers Corporation (IPC) is seeking an experienced Wastewater Technician for our Delphi location. This position is responsible for monitoring and controlling the operation of the wastewater treatment plant, including tasks of operating equipment, collecting samples, performing water quality tests, adjusting chemical levels, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, all to properly treat wastewater. This position is integral to the facility and operations 24/7, 365.
The schedule for the Wastewater Technician position is 12 hour shifts 5:00 am to 5:00 pm working a 2-2-3 rotation.

Qualifications
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly exposed to a variety of extreme conditions on the site including exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud and hearing protection is required. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in cold, hot, and outdoor conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust.
Physical Demand:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Must be able to perform the job wearing all necessary PPE as required but the job tasks. The position, walks and stands for long periods of time under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts heavy objects (up to 25 lbs.) occasionally carrying them up to 100 feet, pushes, pulls; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support without fatigue. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arms and fingers, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina and vision including: close vision, distance vision, and color vision. This position is occasionally required to work at heights with the proper PPE.

Responsibilities
- Observe and interpret readings on gauges, meters, and charts registering various aspects of wastewater treatment operation to ensure they are operating properly.
- Perform all work in accordance with environmental, health and safety standards, as well as policies and procedures of the facility.
- Ability to work from blueprints, drawings, layouts or other specifications to plan sequences of operations; reading technical instructions and follow written work instructions, equipment operating instructions, and/or other documents related to the job function.
- Coordinates and assists in the delivery and staging of bulk chemicals for wastewater treatment.
- Learn and perform basic laboratory functions
- Must be able to pass all training/certifications as required including work towards Class B Wastewater Certification within 3 years. Should the candidate wish to pursue additional Wastewater Certification levels, incentives are in place.
- Maintaining daily logs of operation, maintenance, and safety activities, including test results, instrument readings, calibrations, details of equipment malfunctions, and maintenance work.
- Must be able to control and clean up spills associated with the process.
- Good understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Document completed work as required by the supervisor.
- Maintain stormwater compliance.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Use effective problem-solving skills and perform calculations related to weight measurements, wastewater discharge volume, and effluent concentrations.
- Must be proficient in English
- Strong computer and technical capability
- Mechanical/troubleshooting experience
- Effectively present information in one-on-one small group situations to customers, clients, and other team members of the organization.
- Ability to obtain Forklift certification required
- Wastewater/environmental experience preferred
