Job Summary
The Drill Technician has a versatile role performing both drilling and Construction Materials Testing (CMT) operations. This position plays a critical role in supporting geotechnical investigations by assisting in drilling activities and construction projects by conducting materials testing. The successful candidate will contribute to the success of projects in both drilling and CMT operations.

Base compensation is expected to be in the range of $22.36 and $27.93 per hour based on skill set and experience. This job primarily operates in a field environment in outdoor conditions on construction sites with uneven ground and adverse weather conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands or finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50-100 pounds. The employee will occasionally push or pull equipment weighing up to 200 pounds. The employee is required to frequently work outside. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

- Work with Drillers or Lead Drillers to set up and operate drilling equipment.
- Support the execution of geotechnical investigations and soil sampling.
- Review project instructions, and ensure all materials and supplies are available for project completion.
- Maintain knowledge of regulatory requirements for sealing of boreholes.
- Perform field testing and laboratory testing of concrete, soils, bituminous, or masonry products.
- Perform quality assurance services on construction sites of materials adhering to project specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on drilling equipment and CMT equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
- Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and report any issues promptly to Drillers or Drill Leads.
- Assist in the collection, labeling, and transport of soil and rock samples.
- Follow established procedures for proper storage and documentation of collected samples.
- Prepare written field logs of borings, including judging, documenting soil classifications, and apparent geologic origin.
- Assist in site preparation activities, including marking drilling locations and ensuring access for drilling equipment.
- Check in with Site Contact to review plans and specifications of project work.
- Understand site activities for conducting field testing with minimal disruption to work area, positioning yourself appropriately on the job site.
- Record drilling and CMT data accurately, maintaining detailed field information for reference and analysis.
- Collaborate with the project team to ensure data integrity and quality control.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols during CMT and drilling operations.
- Participate in safety meetings and proactively identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Maintain effective communication with project stakeholders.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve project objectives efficiently.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Class D Driver's License
- Insurable driving record and ability to obtain a medical card.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment.
- Willingness to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to travel up to 20% - 80% of work time including overnight travel.
Preferred Skills
- Class A or B Driver's License.
- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably as a CMT Technician, Drill Assistant or in a related field.
