Our HSSE team are currently seeking an Offshore HSSE Advisor to join our project team. This position will be based in our St. John's office with possible periodic business trips to Ingleside, TX and transition Offshore Newfoundland for the completion of project scope. As the offshore HSSE Advisor you will ensure the project Health, Safety, Security and Environment Plan is implemented, along with other regulatory, corporate and contractual requirements.

What will you be doing?

Reporting to the Senior Manager - HSSE, the Offshore HSSE Advisor will establish a variety of HSSE protocols into hook-up and commissioning execution, including:

• Pre-job planning routines - pre-shift meetings, toolbox talks and risk assessments;
• Task assurance activities, with particular focus on compliance to the Life Saving Rules and Process Safety Fundamentals;
• Hazard identification and control;
• Promoting visible leadership presence during field activities;
• Onboarding orientations and other platform-specific training to all Aker Solutions and subcontractor personnel;
• Coordinating, and with support of Aker Solutions Leadership, delivering safety meetings, communicating safety alerts, industry best practices and lessons learned.

The Offshore HSSE Advisor will also participate in commissioning start-up safety reviews, onsite emergency response drills and exercises and will steward Aker Solutions commitment to the management of short-service employees. Other accountabilities will include:

• Management and issuance of PPE;
• Incident investigation, including reporting and actioning of incidents and high potential near miss occurrences;
• Promoting stop work authority, project safety initiatives and activities that drive the delivery of the Project HSSE Activity Plan;
• Supporting the client's control of work program and ensuring the hook-up and commissioning team are fully integrated;
• Communicating areas of non-compliance and identifying at-risk trends;
• Compiling and reporting monthly statistics.

We think you should have:

• Post secondary degree or diploma in a HSE-related discipline and/or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
• A safety designation (CRSP, CSP, NCSO) is considered an asset.
• This role requires a minimum of 7 years' experience, coupled with strong foundational knowledge of offshore operations and an understanding of typical day-to-day work interfaces on an offshore facility.
• The successful candidate will be required to complete all regulatory and company-specific training.
• This role will onboard in the project office prior to offshore deployment to build relationships, support orientations and learn elements of the Project HSSE Plan.
