Wood is currently recruiting for a Cost Controller to join our Edmonton office within the Projects Canada business unit. We are looking for a motivated, energetic individual with extensive knowledge in cost control area within an EPC environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Full responsibility for establishing, managing and delivering Cost Controls activities on assigned portfolio of projects.
- Accountable for the development of project budgets, the tracking of actual and forecasted costs and the generation of cost reports, ensuring they are prepared to the required level of detail and accuracy and accordance with project requirements
- Direct interface with project stakeholders, such as Project Managers, Project Engineers, Turnaround Execution team, Cost Estimators, Planners/Schedulers, Contracting & Procurement team, Finance, Operations, EPC contractors, and site field contractors.
- Implement project Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) and their population from the estimate
- Assist in the preparation of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
- Generate accurate (with EcoSys and Power BI Dashboards) monthly cost reports, including variances from the plan on commitment, value of work done (VOWD), management of changes against approved Investment Proposals (IPs), Estimate at Completion forecast, and contingency drawdown.
- Maintain data integrity of the Cost Management suite of tools (EcoSys, Power BI dashboards, ProAct, etc.) for all the projects portfolios.
- Support change management process, assist in analysis of trends.
- Consistently apply in EcoSys Estimate at Completion Forecasting, Earned Value Management process for the assigned projects.
- Maintain and promote realism in the cost forecasts in the face of commercial pressure and optimism from project teams.
- Maintain consistency in cost basis through rigorous adherence to the controls processes
- Facilitate project cost performance meetings and oversee the project cost close-out process.
- Participate in cost and estimate risk analysis sessions as required
- Lead cost control compliance and continuous improvement reviews.
QUALIFICATIONS
- An Engineering bachelor's degree and/or certification as a Cost Controller or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years cost control experience in the energy sector.
- Extensive experience in turnaround or project controls.
- Works effectively in a team environment and builds consensus.
- Working knowledge of a broad range of cost controls systems, tools, and practices specifically in the Oil & Gas industry.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including SAP, Microsoft Office (particularly Excel), EcoSys (considered an asset), Power BI (considered an asset).
- Strong understanding of earned value application, cost and schedule variance analyses/trending and what-if scenarios
- Excellent understanding of project management principles and techniques
- Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills
- Highly demanding and fast paced job.

- Maintain strong relationships with entire team during times of high energy and stress.
- Effective stakeholder engagement is critical.
- Commitment to continuous improvement
- Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood now or in the future is required
