We are seeking a Sr. Applications Engineer for Siemens Inverter and Energy Storage product portfolio. This position will be based out of Wendell, NC or Remote.
Role Description:
- Serve as a technical liaison and resource for the Sales team to the Community Solar and Utility customers, and an expert resource for general product specifications, and lead engineering discussions.
- Work closely with customers, developers, EPC's, Community Solar customers, and Utilities and on technical capabilities, prepares Drawings and helps develop timely and accurate commercial proposals and technical specifications for the Community Solar and Utility-scale solar projects and battery energy storage system projects.
- Analyze Utility RFP, Single Line Drawings, and other customer documentation/specifications to determine project scope, schedule, specifications, risk, and technical requirements for both 3-phase string (Virtual Central) and large central inverter systems.
- Prepare technical documentation and Installation documentation for proposals and work with Sales, Finance and Manufacturing to assist completion of bid package to customers. Includes proficiency in Auto Cad/Visio.
- Work closely with Business Development, Sales Account Management, and end customers as well as Siemens staff, engineering, and manufacturing/procurement to ensure complete and shared project understanding and priorities.
- Create/Develop documents such as Manuals, CAD Drawings, Single-Line Drawings and Application notes
- Conduct Technical Presentations, Training sessions, and develop White Papers for Community Solar and Utility customers as well as internal staff.
- Work with 3rd-party suppliers to ensure products meet Siemens specifications and pricing guidelines.
- Perform on-site visits, provide guidance to customers as needed.
You'll win us over by having the following qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical and/or mechanical engineering discipline
- 5+ years of experience in Community Solar, Utility applications, Energy Storage, and/or systems engineering with an Inverter supplier, EPC Contractor, or Energy Storage supplier.
- Experience in systems or application engineering in the Photovoltaic and/or Energy Storage industry.
- Experience with utility-scale inverters/projects and/or projects for commercial solar use is a plus.
- Technical aptitude generating and reading Community Solar and Utility-scale solar engineering schematics and include a high-level technical aptitude including the ability to read and fully understand engineering schematics, technical advisory reports, and technology reviews.
- Understanding of North America (UL) and European (IEC) regulatory standards within the Community Solar and Utility-scale markets for grid-interactive inverters.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduate degree is strongly preferred
- Ability to work with Siemens personnel globally. Ability to work with different cultures, global customers and suppliers, and clear communication channels to accomplish targeted goals.
- Experience in presenting Siemens PV & Energy Storage product/solutions at Solar-related conferences/shows
- Technically proficient and comfortable working with customer to explain complex topics within the Community Solar and Utility-scale solar markets, and/or Energy Storage systems.
- A positive, high-energy professional and willing to go the "extra mile" to complete a task. Comfortable in a global dynamic and fluid environment.
- Ability to interact, collaborate and work with a wide variety o professionals both internally and externally at all levels and disciplines.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple projects/deadlines and a variety of issues and initiatives concurrently.
- Multilingual is a plus

- The pay range for this position is <$89,670 - $153,720>. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
