Job Description

Manager, Nuclear Communications

AtkinsRéalis is one of Canada's largest private sector nuclear engineering groups. We have been providing a wide range of services to the nuclear industry in Canada and around the world since for more than 60 years. We are proud to be the steward of Canadian CANDU nuclear technology.

AtkinsRéalis is looking for a Manager, Nuclear Communications.

In this role you will be responsible for creating integrated communications plans that help to drive the business strategies for our nuclear business, including the Canadian-developed CANDU® nuclear technology. Reporting to and working closely with the Vice-President, Global Nuclear Communications, who is the main business partner, you will provide strategic communications advice to the leadership team and work closely with Human Resources to enhance the union-company relationship.

You will build relationships and work closely with the global and regional heads of the Centers of Excellence of marketing communications, external communications, internal communications, and creative design - as well as their respective teams - to design and deliver measurable communications actions. This includes mapping stakeholders, setting the messaging, identifying profiling opportunities and defining a calendar of internal and external tactical activity such as speaking engagements, industry trade shows, internal roadshows and other leadership communications. You will also take a hands-on role in delivering some of this activity in collaboration with specialists in the broader Communications function. As part of our Global Communications & Marketing team, you will also be required to support global initiatives, and on occasion to help deliver communications outside of the businesses you directly support.

This role will be based in Mississauga, ON.

Your role within the team:
  • Consult and advise internal clients on communications strategy and activities.
  • Create and manage the communications plans for the areas you support.
  • Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of communications activities against benchmarks.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal clients.
  • Act as a link between the business units and the Centers of Excellence to produce internal and external communications tools.
  • Contribute to the overarching action planning for the Nuclear sector.
  • Research and write compelling content to be used across all communications channels including campaign material, reports, articles, speeches, case studies, social media and website.

  • 10 years of experience in a related communications role.
  • Experience in the professional services/design and engineering/construction industry is preferred.
  • The ability to be a strategic thinker and see the big picture and broader company business objectives.
  • Ability to work effectively within a group, as well as independently, and enjoy working with different personality styles and management levels, both in person and across geographies.
  • Exceptional project management and prioritization skills, you are detail-oriented and organized.
