No experience / No degreeOrion Group Life Sciences is looking for a Paralegal for our client in Amsterdam, a global supplier of paints, coatings, chemicals, optical products, glass and fibre optics. This is for an initial 12 month contract.
What will you do
They are looking for a Paralegal to support the Risk Management department of the Protective and Marine Coatings (PMC) business unit.
PMC's Risk Management department consists of a small team, operates in all regions of the world and has a strong focus on protecting the interests of the business unit.
Key areas of focus include issuing guarantees on the performance of coatings supplied by PMC and applied to, for example, large ocean tankers, offshore platforms, storage tanks, factories and bridges.
In addition, the department deals with claims management and for the larger claims we work closely with Legal and the Corporate Insurance department.
In the risk management role, it is important to strike a good balance in what is commercially attractive but also responsible from a risk technical perspective. In practice, they work with many departments/disciplines across all time zones in the world.
Incidentally, the Risk Management Department works closely with the Legal Department of our client. For this department, the new Paralegal will perform coordination and support work.

Responsibilities
- Dealing with specific warranty requests that are the beyond the regions competencies.
- Assist in the preparation of warranty documents and ensure required approvals in line with internal procedures.
- Organize and maintain issued warranty documents in the database, follow up regarding signature of these documents by customers.
- Assist in handling questions regarding guarantees issued in the regions.
- Maintain and where possible (proactively) improve our documents, processes and SharePoint site.
- Communicate and liaise with internal and external stakeholders including on standard warranties, technical approvals of systems being warranted, legal issues, claims and Insurance.
- Process claims that are reported and in consultation with Risk Manager/Legal Counsel determine the (initial) steps and strategy to be taken, follow-up on claims and their handling (incl. drafting and handling any settlement, and involvement in any proceedings).
- Maintain database on claims and warranties.
- Organize and prepare Global claim meeting held quarterly.
- You have a completed HBO, college or university law degree.
- Strong experience in Paralegal Administration.
- You have a good ability to work independently and are enterprising.
- You work accurately, organized and structured.
- You are a motivated team player.
- You are hands-on and solution-oriented.
- You have good communication skills where you can communicate at different levels.
- You have a professional level of English (verbal and written), Dutch is a plus.
- Experience in coating or manufacturing sector is a plus.
