We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join our wind turbine foundation design team.
What you will be doing.
As our Principal Geotechnical Engineer, you will be our senior expert in geotechnical design reporting to the business line head with a key focus on wind turbine foundation design. Key responsibilities are:

This role can be based in Oslo, Norway, but we are also open to considering applications from candidates based in the UK, Denmark, and Hamburg, Germany. The candidate should have the legal right to live and work in one of these countries. Ability to work remotely as required. Onsite (office-based and offshore) attendance and time with clients with flexibility to working hours.

What you will be doing.
As our Principal Geotechnical Engineer, you will be our senior expert in geotechnical design reporting to the business line head with a key focus on wind turbine foundation design. Key responsibilities are:
Project Execution:
- A key resource to deliver foundation design projects.
- Act as Discipline Lead or Key Expert in foundation design projects.
- Ensure delivery excellence within own discipline in the execution of foundation design projects.
Management:
- Resource planning (short and long-term) to meet the business line requirements.
- Monitoring delivery performance of tasks.
- Line management of discipline members.
- Identification of the discipline needs to be required to deliver prospects and new projects.
- Identify opportunities to improve performance including both incremental improvement and innovative change.
- Identify R&D opportunities related to the discipline.
- Working with other disciplines leads concerning the management of shared resources.
- Working with leads of equivalent discipline in other Longitude Group companies to ensure a common standard of delivery and to manage workload across the teams.
Marketing & Sales:
- Support business line head with technical input into sales and marketing activities.
- Support day-to-day client management activities with clients.
- Provide or approve discipline-specific input to tenders including hours estimates, schedules, and method statements.
- Partaking in activities to promote the business and develop new clients.
Training:
- Identification of training needs within the team.
- Ensure identified training is delivered.
- Work with a wider group to identify training opportunities.
- Identify your training requirements to maintain continued professional development.
- Support the training and development of engineers within the sector team.
HSEQ:
- Ensure quality of output of deliverables within the discipline.
- Ensure familiarity within the discipline team with compliance with internal policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Ensure compliance and familiarity with discipline-specific standards within the discipline team
- Ensure tasks are delivered by company procedures.
- Follow the requirements of the HSEQ management systems.
Technical Role:
- Act as a senior expert in primary steel design.
- Undertake technical consultancy work as required.
- Develop existing and new technical competencies in alignment with the business needs.
General:
- To represent the interests of all Group companies to the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in all business activities.

In addition, you will have
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline relevant to the role.
- Accreditation from a relevant national professional institution as a professional or chartered engineer.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience.
- Ability to lead the team forward.
- Very high level of technical competence in the relevant field.
- Excellent knowledge of relevant engineering principles and practices.
- Ability to select and apply relevant standards, guidelines, methods, and techniques.
- Knowledge of relevant software for the discipline.
- Technically and commercially astute.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with clients.
- High level of competency in written English to produce complex technical reports.
- Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Desirable:
- PhD degree or equivalent in a technical subject relevant to the role.
- Have worked for one of the top four wind turbine foundation design companies in a discipline leadership position for 5 years.
- Have taken disciplined responsibility for the delivery of FEED and detailed design of 5x wind turbine jacket and 5x monopile foundation projects.
