Director, Energy Management Systems

The University of Miami/UHealth department of Facilities has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Director, Energy Management Systems to work at the UHealth Medical Campus. The Director, Energy Management Systems oversees the organization's energy usage, and develops and implements practices and procedures designed to reduce energy consumption and improve efficiency of usage.

  • Researches alternative and renewable energy technologies and determines their feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
  • Prepares reports detailing energy costs, and areas of opportunity for cost reduction.
  • Manages department budget, expenditures, and job cost accounting processes.
  • Ensures compliance with company, industry, trade, federal, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices, codes.
  • Tracks industry trends and other market changes that impact energy efficiency.
  • Conducts energy audits and surveys, performance tests and investigations.
  • Writes energy policy, procedures and other related documents, devising strategies for reducing costs and environmental impact.
  • Responsible for the overall utility management of the operations of the campus Central Energy Plant.
  • Responsible for the overall utility management of the operations of Miller School of Medicine Utilities.
  • Responsible for the overall utility management of the operations of Ambulatory Sites BPEI Palm Beach Gardens and Naples.
  • Responsible for the overall supervision of the operations of the Health System Building Automation Systems (Controls).
  • Monitors freezer monitoring for critical spaces such as Pharmacies and Clinical Spaces.
  • Direct the management of the energy resource functions ensuring sufficient provision of required commodities at the most economical cost, service delivery excellence, and strategic planning for future resource utilization and availability.
  • Plans, organizes, coordinates and directs the UHealth Utilities Management Program. Develops and implements short and long-range utility management goals and objectives. Recommends policies and procedures for effective, efficient, and economical operations.
  • Identify other energy and water conservations project opportunities new to the University, prepare business case rationale.
  • Build, lead, and motivate multiple teams, representing the right talent and experience to address various target projects.
  • Foster team-oriented environment to capitalize on the creativity and diversity of campus project team members and other UM employees alike.
  • Supports the business development and management of strategic relationships with the appropriate market players.
  • Ability to perform tasks independently on own initiative with minimum guidance and direction.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field
  • Certification in relevant specialty or field preferably Certified Energy Manager Certification
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.

Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
