Internship in Electrical Engineering

ABB
Internship in Electrical Engineering
At ABB, we are dedicated to addressing global challenges. Our core values: care, courage, curiosity, and collaboration - combined with a focus on diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunities - are key drivers in our aim to empower everyone to create sustainable solutions. Write the next chapter of your ABB story.
This position reports to
Principal Technical Consultant
Your role and responsibilities
The energy demands is changing, traditional energy generation methods that rely on finite resources like fossil fuels are becoming increasingly expensive. In addition, they pollute and destabilize the environment. With more of this awareness, consumers are demanding clean energy at lower prices and increasing capacity. To meet this demand, energy providers must shift to cleaner and more efficient sources. This, in turn, is driving the demand for low-cost, removable plant and long-life energy storage with larger. Renewable Energy Plants (wind, PV, BESS) are growing up to strengthen the network, stabilize voltage and reduce instability. These systems include primary substation, battery management systems (BMS), power conversion systems (PCS), switchgear, transformer and control and protection system. This role is contributing to the Process Automation business in Genova. The study of the system must follow technical rules and standards available and will cover: - Engineering SLD, Power Train Equipment - Theory: Fundamentals on electrical conversion. - Modelling: Plant / versus network and applications. - Simulation: Network studies (PFC, Load Flow, Icc, Selectivity, Cable sizing). - Analysis: Simulation in MATLAB software, ETAP/Power Factory/NEPLAN. - The aim of the internship is to understand the feasibility of using general rules and calculation tools to automatically perform at least part of the analysis and, possibly, develop a prototype capable of validating these techniques on a real case.
