JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in Amazon RDS, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL databases to manage, optimize, and secure our cloud-based database environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for deployment, performance tuning, backup and recovery, security, and high availability across multiple database technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain AWS RDS, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL databases in a cloud environment.
  • Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning strategies.
  • Design and implement backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Ensure database security, access control, and compliance with industry standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Use automation tools and scripts (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, Bash) to streamline database operations.
  • Implement replication, clustering, and failover mechanisms to ensure uptime and scalability.
  • Manage and optimize NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB, MongoDB, or Cassandra.
  • Troubleshoot database-related issues and provide timely resolutions.
  • Plan and execute database migrations and upgrades with minimal downtime.
  • Work closely with DevOps, security, and development teams to support application needs.


Required Qualifications:

  • 5 to 10 years of experience as a Database Administrator, with a focus on cloud environments.
  • Strong expertise in Amazon RDS (including SQL Server and PostgreSQL engines).
  • In-depth knowledge of SQL Server (administration, performance tuning, clustering).
  • Experience with PostgreSQL (configuration, replication, extensions).
  • Hands-on experience with NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB, MongoDB, or Cassandra.
  • Expertise in backup & recovery strategies, high availability, and disaster recovery.
  • Proficiency in database security best practices (encryption, access controls, audits).
  • Experience with SQL scripting, stored procedures, and query optimization.
  • Familiarity with AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, Lambda).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for database performance issues and query optimization.
  • Experience with automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation) for infrastructure as code (IaC).
