The Laboratory Coordinator / Technician, Gulf Coast Lubricants Plant operates the laboratory and performs testing on all raw materials and finished products to confirm quality. The Coordinator works safely and efficiently, also serving as Spill Control Officer.

The Laboratory Coordinator / Technician, Gulf Coast Lubricants Plant operates the laboratory and performs testing on all raw materials and finished products to confirm quality. The Coordinator works safely and efficiently, also serving as Spill Control Officer.
Responsibilities May Include:
- Performing quality control tests/verifications on incoming, in process, and outbound shipments of raw materials and finished product to ensure specification guidelines are met. Correcting blends that are out of specification.
- Understanding product contamination issues and requirements and providing this knowledge as a resource for internal customers.
- Utilizing data base software to maintain test results for the purpose of historical and Certificate of Analysis information. Utilizing the test data for trend analysis in developing problem definitions and resolutions.
- Performing and documenting equipment calibrations in accordance with work instructions. Performing Repeatability studies per MSA on lab equipment in service to determine appropriate competency levels.
- Preparing standards for laboratory use in accordance with work instructions.
- Ordering and maintaining all laboratory operating supplies and spare parts.
- Identifying and documenting equipment problems and performing maintenance on lab equipment.
- Maintaining samples retains for easy retrieval and disposal per plant policy.
- Maintaining IATF/ISO program, policies, procedures, documentation, etc. per plant roles and responsibilities.
- Reviewing/validating all procedures and documents for the laboratory area.
- Performing lab blends as needed by internal and external customers.
- Serving on one of the site core teams.
- Reporting all environmental, safety, or quality near misses or incidents.
- Maintaining work area in a neat and orderly fashion.
Required Qualifications:
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- 3 or more years of experience in a lubricants manufacturing plant or other blending environment
- Working knowledge of ASTM test methods
- Willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to perform/comply with the following:
- Work 2 rotating day and evening shifts (6:00am - 2:30pm and 2:30pm - 10:30pm)
- Work overtime as needed
- Operate forklift
- Physically and safely manage full drums of oil weighing around 450 lbs in a plant environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry or a similar science field
- 3 or more years of Quality Control lab experience utilizing analytical test equipment
- Intermediate or greater proficiency in Excel and SAP
