Phillips 66 is currently accepting applications for a Laboratory Technician, Technical Solutions within Energy, Research, and Innovation (ERI) in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. The selected candidate will be part of the Technical Solutions group with a focus in the Carbon and Coking team. Working under a Lab Supervisor, the candidate will have responsibilities which include the safe operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment as well as performance of laboratory experiments.

The selected candidate will be part of the Technical Solutions group with a focus in the Carbon and Coking team. Working under a Lab Supervisor, the candidate will have responsibilities which include the safe operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment as well as performance of laboratory experiments.
Responsibilities May Include:
- Maintaining a safe working environment.
- Working safely with a variety of chemicals and flammable hydrocarbons.
- Operate and maintain mechanical equipment such as lab scale mills, crushers, ovens and furnaces.
- Perform laboratory testing such as particle size and filtration.
- Development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures and Lab Hazard Reviews.
- Data acquisition, logging and reporting.
- Executing experimental plans in collaboration with scientist/engineers.
- Applying knowledge and creativity to solve technical problems encountered during experiments.
- Collaborating in a team environment with scientists, engineers, technicians, and supervisor to ensure safe, accurate, and timely completion of individual assignments and team goals.
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Above average mechanical aptitude
- Willingness and ability (with or without a reasonable accommodation) to perform/comply with following:
- Working in non-climate controlled environment at times
- Working in a dusty environment
- Work standing for a two (2) hour period
- Lift a stationary weight of 40-lbs from a floor to a bench level
- Lift a stationary weight of 20-lbs from bench level to a shelf 18-inches above bench level
- Respond to sound and system fault light alarms
- Manipulate high-pressure gas cylinders, use a cylinder cart, and attach a regulator to the cylinder using a wrench
- Use a drum dolly or cart to manipulate drum-sized containers
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Proficient (perform skills with limited assistance) in Microsoft Teams, Word, and Excel
Preferred Qualifications;
- Experience handling and working with petroleum coke products
- Experience with particle size measurement and data analysis
- 1 or more years of experience in the use of Excel software capabilities
- 1 or more years of relevant laboratory experience (professional or college)
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Strong communication skills
- Operations experience in the oil, gas and chemical industries
- Experience working in fields requiring a high degree of mechanical aptitude such as machinist or automotive technician
- Operation and maintenance experience of pumps, compressors or other rotating equipment
