Wood is currently recruiting for an Assistant Construction Lead - Electrical and Instrumentation with a background in heavy industry preferably in oil and gas to join our team. This role will be located offshore Newfoundland and Labrador, working a 3 week on and off rotation. #LI-Onsite
The Role
Reporting to the Construction Lead, the Assistant Construction Lead will provide day to day supervision of the construction team in the delivery of work to meet safety, operational reliability, quality, financial and productivity targets. Providing supervision of multiple activities and work groups ensuring consistency, efficiency and continuous improvement of delivery.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Typical responsibilities:
- The provision of leadership and supervision of the craft workforce, ensuring the delivery of scheduled, planned construction activities in line with safety and quality systems
- Participation in the effective planning, scheduling and coordination of maintenance activities and construction, completing work as required and ensuring service objectives are met within the required timeframes
- Ensuring duties are performed in line with both Wood's and client's HSE programs
- Ensure timely resolution of safety issues and provide communication and consultation of safety related matters with work teams
- Keep informed with all Wood internal HSE updates and communicate to direct team i.e.: Life Saving Rules, Safety Shield
- Lead & participate in investigations and implementation of assigned actions and communicating team incidents/ lessons learned at weekly site safety meeting
- Maintain a zero tolerance for unsafe acts or behaviours and implement and deliver the Just and fair culture process as required
- Initiate safety, quality and environmental processes within the area(s) of control, including toolbox meetings, inspections, and the identification, assessment and control of risks in accordance Wood and client requirements
- Direct and assign the appropriate resources to complete tasks to ensure delivery of quality work and to avoid rework
- Assist and support in the planning and coordination of the construction plan
- Prioritize, schedule and monitor work undertaken by trades, optimizing the use of resources to provide timely and cost-effective services
QUALIFICATIONS

Expected:
- 7-10 years experience leading an Electrical and Instrumentation team
- Ability to review and correctly interpret engineering drawings and documents
- Demonstrated experience in fostering and maintaining a collaborative, high-performing and client-oriented culture of safety, continuous improvement and effectively support delivery of the contract's strategic objectives
- Understand, work to and ensure compliance with the client's Work Management System
- Previous experience working in a brownfield oil and gas environment
- Current authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
- Must pass a site-specific drug and alcohol test and CAPP Medical as required by the client

- Basic Survival Training (BST) including HUET and HUEBA
- Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) Alive
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS 2015)
- Offshore Safety Regulatory Awareness
- Fall Protection
- Confined Space Entry
- Standard First Aid
