Emerson Tool Company, based in our St. Louis, MO location, is looking for an Electrical Engineer / Senior Electrical Engineer (depending on experience) to work in an exciting, multi-functional design environment with a company that financially recognizes patentable contributions.

You will support and/or lead teams consisting of Engineers and Designers in their design efforts, as well as production support for Operations. You will focus on the design and integration of motors, circuits, controls, sensors, batteries, power supplies, wireless communication systems and IOT solutions for new products. You will harness existing and evolving technologies to deliver solutions for customers, working through all phases of the new product development process and product life cycles. We proudly manufacture RIDGID Wet/Dry Vacuums, ProTeam Commercial Products, and related accessories. We look forward to seeing your application!

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

Project Execution:
  • Work as part of a team to develop new product designs from concept to full production for sophisticated projects and major product lines in a Lean environment.
  • Be responsible for achieving defined market requirements including performance and functionality.
  • Review, evaluate, and report project status in written and verbal form on a regular basis; recommend changes in procedures or objectives as required.
  • Supervise and support laboratory testing and agency testing/approvals during the evolution of the product design.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments including Marketing, Sales, and Manufacturing to develop product specifications with a Design for Manufacturing approach, establish the project's goals, and gain alignment. (Depending on experience)

Technology Development:
  • Advance Electrical Engineering technology in the areas of power electronics, batteries, motor controls, and motors.
  • Provide theory of operation including calculations, and other documentation to validate designs.
  • Participate and/or lead design reviews, take actions, and implement feedback.
  • Mentor the technical development of engineering team members. (Depending on experience)

Sustaining Engineering:
  • Perform sustaining engineering activities such as processing engineering changes, maintaining current products, and resolving production issues.
  • Identify, analyze, and implement cost reductions.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree: BSEE or Equivalent Required
  • 3 years of proven ability in Engineering. Experience in product design and development preferred.
  • High level of communication skills both verbal and written. Must have strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate optimally with multi-functional teams, as well as employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to apply the fundamental concepts of electrical engineering principles:
    • Circuit design and analysis: AC & DC systems
    • Printed circuit board design
    • Digital circuit design
    • Power electronics & motors
  • Experience with oscilloscopes, and digital multimeters
  • Basic knowledge of Product and Quality Standards such as UL, CSA, IEC, TUV, VDE, ISO, Trade Compliance
  • Domestic and international travel
  • Legal Authorization to work in the U.S. Sponsorship will not be provided for this role.


Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  • 8 years of proven experience in Engineering.
  • Ability to apply the fundamental concepts of electrical engineering principles:
    • Integration of semiconductors into circuit designs: diodes, transistors, op-amps, etc.
    • Digital circuit design: logic devices, microcontrollers; ADC's, DAC's, etc.
    • Power electronics: power supply design, buck/boost converters
    • Wireless networks
    • Small Signal Analysis: stability, noise, interference and signal integrity
  • Experience calculating thermal dissipation, component tolerances, and an understanding of their effects for DFMEA
  • Programming experience using schematic and PCB development tools (Altium, Cadence, other)
  • Familiarity with C, C++, Python, or other similar Firmware development tools
  • Embedded design and debugging of microcontrollers and connected hardware peripherals (memory, ADC, HMI, displays)
  • Experience with BLDC Motor Control Design and Development
  • Experience with Managing Projects thru Listing Agency Approvals
