Position Summary

The Gas Regulatory Audit Specialist is responsible for all CoServ Gas internal and external Gas Operations audits. In addition to the daily regulatory and compliance requirements of CoServ Gas duties include tracking all required information for annual DOT (Department of Transportation) and TRRC (Texas Railroad Commission) reports, maintaining data bases and records associated with compliance functions, reviewing, and preparing damage reports, and submitting daily and annual reports electronically to DOT and TRRC.

Primary Position Responsibilities

  • Conducts periodic TRRC record audits.
  • Coordinates and manages various web applications associated with regulatory and compliance data management.
  • Performs compliance audits internally and externally.
  • Tracks daily leak reports, creating reports and entering data for permanent records.
  • Conducts records audits and as-built audits.
  • Coordinates with Operation Techs and Maintenance Crews in submitting completed documentation of leak reports.
  • Calibrates gauges and maintains gauge calibration records for all CoServ Gas.
  • Maintains data base or records required for annual reports and prepares reports to submit electronically to DOT/TRRC.
  • Maintains and verifies compliance data such as regulator and valve inspections, leak survey documentation and protected pipe records.
  • Works closely with Gas Engineering to ensure that GPS points are put into GIS.
  • Complies with established CoServ safety and operating rules, procedures and guidelines including reporting unsafe practices to a supervisor.
  • Complies with established CoServ Information Security Handbook, policies, procedures, and guidelines including reporting suspected information security incidents to Tech Support.

Secondary Position Responsibilities

  • Conducts damage investigations to determine cause.
  • Reviews and prepares damage reports and corresponds with TRRC on damage inquiries.
  • Receives training as directed by management team.
  • Attends regularly scheduled Safety Meetings.
  • Attends Emergency Rescue Training and other industry training as may be required.
  • Attends CPR/First Aid Training and maintains a current certification.
  • Attends CoServ University required training.
  • Performs other duties and activities as directed.

Position Requirements

Education and Certifications Required

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D equivalency.

Experience Required

  • Meets all requirements of Service Tech 1 and or Construction Tech 1
  • 5 years in the natural gas distribution field or possesses the institutional knowledge for the position.

Experience Preferred

  • 10 years' experience in natural gas regulations and strong knowledge of compliance management.
  • Background in gas construction.

Skills and Abilities Required

  • Ability to use basic office equipment (calculator, CIS, computer and PC, copier, phones, and FAX machine).
  • Basic math skills-addition, subtraction, percent.
  • Ability to communicate well with other departments, contractors, and regulatory entities.
  • Must have a working knowledge of basic computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access Data Base).
  • Knowledge of web-based programs.

Physical Requirements

  • Works both in the office and outdoors (60/40).
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
  • Drives company vehicle as needed.
  • Operates office equipment such as a computer, telephone, fax machine, copier, etc.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Works in potentially hazardous conditions caused by pets and wildlife in or near the work site.
  • Works in areas with possible exposure to poison oak, poison ivy, and insect stings.

Other Requirements

  • Must have and maintain a valid Texas driver's license.
