We are seeking an experienced Cross-Commodity Derivatives Trader to manage and execute trading strategies across multiple energy and commodity markets, including crude oil, refined products, and other related asset classes. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in macroeconomic trends, geopolitical risks, supply/demand fundamentals, and positioning strategies across global markets.

The Commercial organization works to effectively leverage assets and market knowledge to create additional value within the risk parameters of the Company. We do this by maximizing general interest profitability, enhancing return on capital employed by successfully partnering with the Refining, Transportation and Marketing functions to ensure Value Chain Integration. Our truck and rail fleets support our feedstock and distribution operations. Rail movements are provided via a fleet of more than 10,000 owned and leased rail cars. Truck movements are provided through numerous third-party trucking companies, as well as through our 100 percent-owned subsidiary, Sentinel Transportation LLC.

We are seeking an experienced Cross-Commodity Derivatives Trader to manage and execute trading strategies across multiple energy and commodity markets, including crude oil, refined products, and other related asset classes. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in macroeconomic trends, geopolitical risks, supply/demand fundamentals, and positioning strategies across global markets.
Responsibilities May Include:
- Develop and execute cross-commodity trading strategies focused on crude oil, refined products, and other energy derivatives.
- Trade across futures, options, and swaps, managing exposure across time spreads, cracks, and regional arbitrage opportunities.
- Monitor macroeconomic indicators, geopolitical developments, and supply/demand imbalances to identify profitable trading opportunities.
- Analyze global energy flows, refinery margins, inventory levels, and currency fluctuations to optimize trade positioning.
- Execute trades across US, European, and Asian markets (NYMEX, ICE, CME, Singapore, etc.), ensuring best execution and risk-adjusted returns.
- Work closely with research, risk management, and operations teams to ensure alignment with portfolio objectives and risk parameters.
- Leverage data analytics and quantitative models to enhance market insights and trading efficiency.
- Manage risk and capital allocation within predefined limits, continuously refining risk-reward profiles.
- Maintain strong relationships with brokers, counterparties, and market participants to optimize liquidity and execution.
- Stay ahead of evolving market trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements impacting commodity trading.
Required Qualifications:
- Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
- Bachelor's degree
- 7 or more years of experience in commodity derivatives trading, with a focus on energy markets (crude oil, refined products, LPG, etc.)
- Strong understanding of macro trends, geopolitical risks, and supply/demand fundamentals affecting global commodities
- Proven ability to trade spreads, cracks, and arbitrage opportunities across multiple regions (US, London, Singapore)
- Expertise in futures, options, swaps, and structured products, with a track record of profitable trading
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with proficiency in trading platforms and market analytics tools
- Ability to work under pressure, make quick decisions, and manage multiple positions in a fast-moving market
- Excellent risk management discipline, ensuring exposure is aligned with firm-wide strategies and limits
- Strong communication and relationship management skills with banks, brokers, and internal stakeholders
- Proficiency in trading software such as Bloomberg, ICE Connect, WebICE, CME Direct, and risk management systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a derivatives trading environment and multi-asset trading (e.g., metals, agricultural commodities, or FX) is a plus.
- Advanced degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Background in data assimilation and automation on supply & demand, macroeconomic, positioning data, and volatility data sets.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, VBA, Tableau to automate data pipelines and enhance trade idea generation.
