JOB DESCRIPTION

The primary objectives for Product Specialists within M/D Totco are to provide feedback during the new product development (NPD) cycle, perform quality assessments on products as they exit the NPD cycle, and ensure a sufficient support structure exists before the commercial release. This requires an understanding of field operations, customer expectations, the product development process, and navigating both sales and support structures.

The team also serves as the conduit for communicating issues from Field Operations & Operations Support to Product Line and Engineering. This helps Product Line prioritize sustaining activities for existing products against items on their NPD roadmap.

To perform these tasks, some of the responsibilities include:

  • Coordination of visits to field stores to maintain relationships and a good understanding of technician capabilities and customer expectations.
  • Frequently visit customers in office, drilling, and production environments to get a better understanding of their individual needs and external influences.
  • Actively participate in design reviews and other steps within the NPD cycle, ensuring potential issues are brought to the attention of the design team as soon as possible.
  • Regularly create, review, and revise product technical documentation.
  • Manage software & configuration files associated to MDT products and their components, to create and maintain standardized deployment processes.
  • Perform new site surveys for prospective deployments, creating topologies with multiple devices, communicating via multiple protocols over a variety of methods.
  • Identify & prioritize requirements for minimizing power consumption for remote applications where grid power may not be accessible.
  • Create quantified plans for testing new products in laboratory and field environments.
  • Ability to provide onsite and remote support for other MDT products and understand the interdependencies between them.
  • Coordinate field tests with stakeholders, deploy the product to perform the test, document the results, and communicate the findings to the development team.
  • Collect & record feedback from Operations on issues with existing products. Work with teammates and stakeholders to identify root cause, then coordinate with other groups as needed to implement long term resolutions.
  • Create & present training curriculums and documentation to help build and expand the support structure for each product.

Qualifications and Expectations:

  • 3+ years of field experience in energy, data aggregation, instrumentation, and/or communication industries.
    • Experience in alternative energy a plus.
  • Must have the personality of a self-starter and ability to manage their time with little oversight.
  • Thorough understanding of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook. Experience with Teams & Project preferred.
  • Must be excellent at creating & communicating plans, concepts, and issues to stakeholders.
  • Travel required: 20% of time
