JOB DESCRIPTION

Systems Administrator

This role is a new part of the Field Engineering team in NOV Digital Solutions which supports emerging technologies like Max Edge and existing products like RigSense.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and monitor installed systems and infrastructure for optimal performance.
• Actively participate in application design reviews, ensuring potential issues are brought to the attention of the design team as soon as possible.
• Create and maintain detailed documentation of systems configurations and processes.
• Collaborate internally to plan for future growth and infrastructure needs.
• Manage software & configuration files associated to our products to create and maintain standardized deployment processes.
• Create plans for testing application and image changes in lab and production environments.
• Ability to provide onsite and remote support when needed.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues.
• Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.
• Perform system backups and recovery

Minimum Qualifications & Expectations:

• Prior experience as a Systems Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role.
• Experience with scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python).
• Familiarity with virtualization (Proxmox, VMware, and/or Hyper-V)
• Hands-on experience with Windows and Linux environments
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Ideal Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds).
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices.
• Familiarity with Docker and containerized applications
• Ability to implement, document, and troubleshoot OT communication protocols (Modbus, OPC-UA, Profibus, etc.)
• 3+ years of field experience in energy, data aggregation, instrumentation, and/or communication industries.
