The Navigational Radios - Radar Altimeters is an engineering group with the CNS organization in which this Lead Software Engineer role is included - with products spread across both commercial and military domains. While part of a large company and diverse organization, the NavRadio-Radar Altimeter group operates very much like a small business in many ways. Our key contributors are expected to wear multiple "hats" dependent upon the program scope and timeline. With respect to Software Engineers (SWE), our expectation on medium to smaller programs is for the SWE to operate as within systems engineering and software engineering - managing both the "system" side and the "design" side that falls under your particular discipline. • Develop SW requirements and SW architecture - perform related trade studies
  • Design to meet requirements (discipline dependent)

  • Draft respective program artifacts, inclusive of items such as systems requirement document, test procedures and reports, white papers, etc.
  • Provide support to devices in production ad respective test equipment.
  • Participate in proposals and cost estimation
  • "Jump in" and support other team members when/where needed
  • Perform RCCA on issues that arise during development and in production
  • Stay abreast of industry standards and trends and distill into actionable activities for team, programs, and products.
  • Provide "expert" recommendations to engineering and business leadership to evaluate decisions on pursuits, developments, and product roadmaps and strategies

The ideal candidate has a commitment to aviation safety, technical and professional excellence, a commitment to customer satisfaction and growth, demonstrates leadership and delivers on results, has a global mindset and is able to foster teamwork and diversity, demonstrates personal and professional integrity, has strong oral and written communication skills, is able to work across functional boundaries at multiple levels, and can establish strong working relationships within internal/external customers and the certification agencies.
