Job Title
: Sr. Advanced CAD Specialist (PID Designer)
DIRECTLY ACCOUNTABLE FOR:
• Consultation with engineers to develop P&ID based on the project and customer specific requirements.
• Able to work on projects with Customer specific symbology and Non-Standard deliverables.
• Develop AutoCAD/ MicroStation symbol library (if required) by using CAD tools.
• Additional knowledge of Smart Plant software will be added advantage.
• Perform the back checking of the P&ID against with engineering review comments and take the corrective actions.
• Participate in the Internal and client P&ID review meetings and be able to explain the PID process in-front of customer.
• Participate in global meeting and share the issues faced by IPL team and jointly discuss the lesson learnt in projects. Actively participate in global infrastructure related work. Keep adding a value to global infrastructure by suggesting the new design or modification of existing design. Share feedback on the tool development/improvement.
• Participate in various project KOM/Close out meetings and document lesson learn for that project. Also suggest change in the work process so that these mistakes do not get repeated in future.
• Regularly update scheduling manager if there is any change in the schedule dates. Explain them the reason for delay and mitigation plan to ensure project is back on track.
• Identify opportunities to improve work processes and procedures.
• Demonstrate ability to work in cross functional role.
• Will have responsibility for various projects and plans and help develop best practices.
• Provides and implements new tools and systems that effect the productivity of the entire department.
• Supports technology development, and / or commercialization of new products in a major technology.
• Recognizes opportunities to make improvements and acts promptly to recommend changes to improve the work process or product.
• Presents ideas at Technical Community Organization (TCO) poster sessions.
Additional Position Accountabilities include:
• Support as Project Drafting Coordinator/Lead for multiple unit complex. Create project schedule and manage day to day schedule of assigned resources.
• Able to conduct complicated internal engineering checks independently.
• support external client reviews and obtain all information necessary to present engineering design requirements.
• Position will provide guidance to and share knowledge with lower-level team members.
• Will have responsibility for various projects and plans and help develop best practices.
• Maintain project drafting schedule and proactively looks for opportunities to improve productivity.
Minimum Required Competencies:
• 3yrs Diploma in Engg or ITI- Mechanical
• 20+ years of relevant experience in 2D Design for the petroleum refining & petrochemical industry. More years of experience on UOP technologies would be a preference.
• Demonstrates ability to apply first principles associated with various drafting disciplines to solve problems, make improvements, or new developments. Demonstrates ability to support complex technologies and/or multiple technologies.
• Prior understanding of process equipment / components used in petroleum refining and/ or petrochemicals industry is a major advantage.
• Proficiency in the use of 2D drafting tools (such as MICROSTATION and/or AutoCAD).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to be used at the international level with colleagues worldwide.
• Open to 10% world-wide travel, typically of short duration (generally between a few days and two weeks)
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
• Highly motivated, Independent and Team player
• Fabrication experience and business acumen are an advantage.
