We are looking for a passionate and experienced Cloud FinOps Engineer who embraces new technologies and enjoys solving complex puzzles related to cloud cost management. This role is heavily focused on the technical implementation and guidance of FinOps practices.
Responsibilities:
- A key player in bridging the gap between engineering, finance, and operations, ensuring our cloud usage is efficient and aligned with business goals.
- This role goes beyond cost-cutting; it's about fostering a culture of cloud financial awareness and data-driven decision-making.
- Responsible for implementing and managing FinOps practices, developing cost optimization strategies, and providing clear visibility into cloud spending.
- Guide and coach cloud users (engineers, developers, architects) on how to efficiently utilize different cloud services, achieving optimal cost with the same or better performance.
- Provide actionable, technical recommendations and best practices to optimize existing workloads and design new, cost-effective solutions.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, SRE, or a related technical role, with at least 3 years specifically focused on cloud cost optimization and technical implementation of FinOps principles.
- Deep understanding of cloud service pricing models, billing structures, and a wide range of services across Azure. This includes compute, storage, networking, databases, serverless, and containerization services.
- Hands-on experience with cloud cost management tools and platforms. (e.g., Flexera, CloudHealth, Cloudability, Cost Explorer, or similar tools.)
- Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation. Experience developing and implementing automation tools and processes to optimize cloud spending and usage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Flexibility and adaptability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Strong data analysis skills, including experience with data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau).
- FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP) or similar certification is a plus. (Strongly preferred)
- Possess strong communications and interpersonal skills in English. Ability to explain complex technical concepts and cost optimization strategies to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Good problem analysis and resolution skills. Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to cloud resource utilization and cost.
- Experience with creating and presenting reports to stakeholders, highlighting cost trends, anomalies, and recommendations.
- Ability to conduct deep-dive technical analysis with application teams, offering specific, actionable recommendations for cost optimization at the workload and architectural level.
- Experience with identifying and driving rightsizing, reservation management and commitment-based discount.
- Demonstrable track record of successfully optimizing cloud costs in previous roles, with quantifiable results (e.g., percentage reduction in cloud spend, specific projects and their impact).
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience with Policy-as-Code and integration into delivery pipelines.
- Experience in consulting and in onboarding / coaching of DevOps teams into CFM activities.
- Sound understanding of software architecture patterns and implementation techniques for cost-effective solutions.
