We have an immediate opening at our Merry Hill, NC facility for an experienced Utilities Technician to join our team! This Utilities Technician will be responsible to maintain boilers and utilities including air compressors, water treatment systems and generators.

PLEASE NOTE: 2-2-3 Schedule 12 Hour Shifts rotating days and nights

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operate plant utilities in a safe and environmentally responsible manner
• Run and monitor plant boilers and utilities including water testing
• Monitor and maintain fire protection system
• Monitor and manage fuel inventory including wood chips, LP gas and diesel fuel
• Utilize both, manual and automated control systems to monitor and adjust utilities as needed to maintain proper operation
• Perform water testing, light maintenance and prepare equipment to enable others to safely perform maintenance
• Follow and complete all daily logs and system test as specified
• Calibrate and maintain gas monitors throughout the plant
• Ensure compliance with operating procedures, quality management and safety and environmental procedures
• Respond to emergency situations within the limits of training and qualifications
• Perform general housekeeping to maintain a safe and clean work area
• Other duties in support of company objectives

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• H.S Diploma
• Experience in maintenance and/or plant utilities is preferred
• Display of high mechanical aptitude
• Proficiency with computers
• Effective oral and written communication skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to work a 12-hour rotating AM & PM shift schedule to staff a 24/7 operation
• Ability to perform essential physical functions of the position including climbing stairs, ladders and lifting 55 lbs.
• Ability to enter confined spaces while wearing a respirator and performing maintenance

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to work holidays and overtime as required by schedule
• Ability to coach and be coached
• Ability to be safe, innovate, flexible, self-starting, honest and open
• Ability to work as a member of an integrated team
• Experience in maintenance and/or plant utilities
