Job Overview
The Chemist is responsible for monitoring and analyzing chemical processes and ensuring product quality and environmental compliance on board the FPSO. This includes testing crude oil, produced water, injection water, and other fluids to support safe and efficient production operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine and non-routine laboratory analysis of crude oil, produced water, gas, injection water, and chemicals used in production processes.
  • Support process optimization by analyzing chemical parameters and advising on dosage rates for corrosion inhibitors, demulsifiers, scale inhibitors, biocides, and other treatment chemicals.
  • Conduct environmental compliance testing, including oil-in-water analysis and effluent monitoring, ensuring adherence to regulatory discharge limits.
  • Monitor and maintain the chemical inventory, including storage, usage records, and reordering in coordination with the offshore and onshore teams.
  • Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
  • Prepare detailed lab reports and maintain accurate records of all test results, ensuring traceability and compliance with QA/QC procedures.
  • Support production and maintenance teams by providing chemical-related insights during process upsets or shutdowns.
  • Ensure laboratory operations comply with health, safety, and environmental standards and participate in regular audits and inspections.
  • Assist in training junior lab personnel or production operators in sample handling and basic testing procedures.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of laboratory experience, preferably in offshore oil & gas or petrochemical industry.
  • Solid understanding of production chemistry, including crude oil properties, water treatment, and chemical dosing.
  • Familiarity with lab instruments such as spectrophotometers, gas chromatographs, titration systems, and oil-in-water analyzers.
  • Knowledge of offshore safety protocols and certification (e.g., BOSIET, HUET, OGUK medical).
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a rotation-based offshore environment.
