Job Overview

The Gun Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the preparation, maintenance, and assembly of perforating gun systems and monitoring and tracking the consumption of explosives used in wireline operations. Ensures compliance with all safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Manages a team of technicians and coordinates workflow to support efficient field operations.

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise the daily activities of the gun shop, including loading and assembling the perforating gun systems accurately as per the program.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, including explosive handling and hazardous material regulations (e.g., DOT, ATF, and company-specific policies).
  • Maintain inventory of gun components, explosives, and related equipment, coordinate with procurement for restocking.
  • Conduct inspections and testing of gun assemblies to ensure quality and functionality.
  • Provide training and guidance to gun shop technicians and new hires.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for explosives usage, storage, and transport in accordance with local and international regulations.
  • Work closely with wireline field teams to understand job requirements and ensure timely preparation and delivery of perforating systems.
  • Support and enforce company QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment) initiatives.
  • Coordinate with regulatory authorities during audits or inspections.

Skills:
  • Explosive Handling & Safety Compliance - Deep knowledge of safe handling, storage, and transportation of explosives per industry regulations (e.g., ATF, IME, DOT).
  • Mechanical Aptitude - Strong understanding of gun assembly, wireline tools, and downhole perforating systems.
  • Leadership & Team Supervision - Ability to lead and train technicians, manage workloads, and ensure high team performance.
  • Attention to Detail - Precision in gun assembly, documentation, and quality control to prevent operational issues or safety hazards.
  • Inventory & Documentation Management - Skilled in maintaining accurate records of components, explosives, and job-specific assemblies using inventory systems or ERP tools.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good computer skills.

Qualifications:
  • A Diploma degree in related areas.
  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience as Gun loader supervisor or Wireline workshop Supervisor.
  • Good in English and Arabic (both spoken and written).
