Our client is seeking a Lab Technician II to work within their facilities located in Richmond, California on an initial 12-month assignment (with the possibility of extension / becoming permanent).
Role Overview
• Support laboratory operations focused on timely, accurate, and flexible service delivery.
• Handle and test various lubricants, including base oils, additives, solvents, and finished products.
• Follow strict safety protocols to maintain a "safety-first" work environment.
• Perform lab tasks in accordance with the company's excellence standards.
• Assist in testing and analysis of automotive, industrial, and heavy-duty lubricants (e.g., engine oils, greases, gear oils, transmission fluids).
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety within the lab and storage areas.
• Accurately document test results and observations following standard procedures.
• Collaborate with team members to meet production and testing timelines.
• Participate in training for specialized lab procedures and equipment use.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and quality assurance initiatives in the lab.
Skills & Qualifications
• 1+ years' experience working in a laboratory or similar technical environment.
• Detail oriented, have the ability to follow processes and procedures implicitly, possess laboratory skills such as precision weighing and measuring, have glassware handling experience, and demonstrate operational discipline in the conduct of their work.
• Computer (PC) skills; experience creating spreadsheets and reports on a personal computer. Knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Knowledge of scientific testing methods
• Ability to perform detail oriented, mistake-free work.
• Ability to maintain a safe and clean environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent safe work history / strong safe work ethic.
• Demonstrated experience in equipment maintenance, lab management, quality control, and product integrity processes and programs (i.e. ISO, ASTM, Round Robins).
• Demonstrated capability to work effectively as a team member to resolve issues and complete projects. Preferred Qualifications:
• AS / BS degree, formal training in chemistry, biology, or other science.
• Experience working in a laboratory or similar technical environment.
• Experience monitoring and adjusting process control systems. • Previous lab refinery experience/safety sensitive position
Work Schedule: 5/40 (Monday-Friday
Candidates local to the Richmond/Bay Area required.
