No experience / No degreeOur client, a diverse global engineering and construction company, are seeking a Welding QC Inspector to join their team based in Henderson, WA. This position is offered on an initial 5 month contract.
Duties and Responsibilities
• In accordance with the Quality Control Plans, Inspection Test Plans & Project Specifications, perform specific inspections on materials, equipment, and fabrication/installation activities related to offshore spools and spreader bar structural components at the subcontractor's yard, issuing relevant Quality Records.
• Verify welding parameters, consumables, and environmental conditions during spool and structural fabrication activities.
• Ensure the availability and compliance of welding procedures (WPS/PQR) and qualifications specific to offshore spool and structural fabrication.
• Witness mechanical testing at laboratories during the execution of PQRs and review results for both spool and structural applications.
• Verify welders' qualifications and ensure they meet project requirements for both offshore spool and spreader bar structural fabrication.
• Check the availability, calibration, and suitability of welding equipment, consumables, pre-heating setups, heat treatment equipment, and bevel preparations for spool and structural welding.
• Monitor Consumable Issue & Control in line with the Consumable Control Procedure for both fabrication scopes.
• Monitor the extent of weld repairs performed by welders for both spool and structural items, take corrective actions as required, and review heat treatment records for compliance.
• Ensure all welding & NDT testing comply with the relevant codes, specifications, and project requirements for offshore spools and spreader bar structures.
• Conduct line-up checks to confirm that all installed spools, pipe fittings, and structural components meet the specified design, materials, and traceability requirements.
• Perform visual inspections of welds and fabrication for both scopes, issuing relevant inspection reports.
• Collect, manage, and review documentation certifying tests, controls, and inspections to ensure all records related to spool and structural welding/testing are properly retrievable and included in the final As-Built dossier.
• Raise any Non-Conformities during production to the QC Lead, Package Manager, and PQM, covering both spool and spreader bar scopes.
• Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the QC Lead / Package Manager / Project Quality Manager (PQM) from time to time across both fabrication scopes.
Skills / Qualifications:
• 5 years' experience in Offshore Pipelay Activities in the Oil and Gas sector.
• Qualified as per the following approved organisations and minimum levels: CSWIP 3.1; American Welding Society (AWS) to Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Weld Australia; and Welding Inspector Grade 2.
• Strong Proficiency in Microsoft office, especially MS word and Excel , and the ability to adapt to new system and tools.
• NDT ASNT Level II / PCN qualifications in methods such as UT, PT, MT, and RT is an advantage.
