About TheRole:
The Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T) Chief Legal Officer position is responsible for all legal affairs of an approximately $2B annually Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration management and operating contract business.
This position provides legal counsel and assistance to Senior Leadership and the various operating divisions to ensure maximum protection of the legal rights of the FM&T Division, and to ensure operations remain within the limits prescribed by law and the business' contracts with the federal government.
This position serves as a key member of the FM&T Senior leadership team on matters of strategic importance to the business, establishing key strategic alliances, and risk-opportunity analysis for business transactions.
The position is also part of Honeywell's Aerospace law department and reports to the General Counsel of Honeywell Federal Solutions business (Annual Revenues
$3.5 B).
This position manages a staff of approximately 40 professionals, including lawyers, paralegals, and professionals in export controls, government relations, intellectual property, records management, data privacy, supply chain, and government contracts, among others.
This position is the primary administrator of the business' prime contract with DOE/NNSA and government-approved purchasing system.
This position will be in Kansas City, MO.

Duties andResponsibilities:
Supervises and directs activities of Law, Contracts and Export Control Department.
Directly supervises employees on the Law, Contracts and Export Control team. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Develops and disseminates policy and directions on legal aspects of operating activities for the guidance and control of operating divisions.
Represents the business in the negotiation and administration of the Prime Contract, including all changes, modifications, disputes, and related reimbursement authorizations.
Provides counsel in the conduct of relationships with the NNSA and other federal and state bureaus and agencies.
Assists in negotiations as required, and reviews and approves written agreements, contracts, or other legal instruments involving the rights and obligations of the Division.
Acts as Corporate Secretary to the FM&T Board of Managers
Keeps current with federal, state, and local judicial decisions, laws, regulations, DOE orders, NNSA Supplemental Directives and related policies affecting the Division's operations and provides appropriate guidance.
Provides legal guidance and counsel relative to patent, trademark, copyright and procurement matters.
Represents the Division or collaborates with outside counsel in litigation involving the Company and its employees or agents arising from their acts on behalf of the Division.
Acts as liaison between the Division and Honeywell Corporate Counsel in legal matters of particular interest to the Company.
Represents the business in community and civic activities.
Member of the Senior Leadership Team actively engaged in the management of FM&T's operations to include strategic guidance, risk management, and financial planning.
Accountable for key elements of the Performance Evaluation and Management score and the mid-year evaluation report.
Conducts activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established HS&E requirements to ensure the protection of employees, the public, and the environment. Takes actions necessary to "stop" work when an unsafe condition or action is identified. Every employee has the right and responsibility to stop work when unsafe conditions or actions are identified.

BasicQualifications:
BS/BA degree and Juris Doctor with excellent academic credentials
At least 12 years of legal practice with major law firm, government agency and/or Corporation
At minimum 7 years leadership with direct reports[KC1][KC2]
Strong legal background which includes subject matter expertise in corporate, commercial, and intellectual
property laws
Extensive experience in all phases of corporate legal practice including a thorough knowledge of government
regulations, including procurement.
Bar Membership: Must currently be a member in good standing of a bar of a state, territory of the United States, District of Columbia, or commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Must be eligible for a Missouri bar license or Missouri Bar Limited Admission as In-House Counsel.
Possession of a Q level security clearance or its DOD equivalent or capability to obtain appropriate clearance

AdditionalQualifications:
General understanding of litigation, environment, safety and health, government contracts, and employment
law.
Experience in Department of Energy management and operating contract legal requirements, or the equivalent.
Excellent Communication Skills.
Experience supporting a Board of Managers or similar.
Ability to think conceptually and strategically, while maintaining a results driven approach.
Strong problem solving, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
Ability to establish priorities for the legal team and to execute to those priorities.
Ability to lead, influence and motivate your team and to act as a catalyst for change.
Strong problem resolution skills and the ability to develop innovative solutions to address issues.
