In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

• Reviews, drafts and negotiates agreements and transaction documents in compliance with applicable policies and legal and ethical standards, without supervision, including in:
  • Responding, within established guidelines, to customers' RFP/RFQs, vendor qualification documents, contractual requests and purchase requirements for our vendors;
  • Drafting and negotiating with customers and/or vendors, appropriate contractual language to reflect the business interests and policies of the parties.
• Takes the Contracts Lead role on
  • Sophisticated international and multi-BU project contracts;
  • Sophisticated frame agreements (multi-BU);
• Acts as China Contracts Lead for China Strategic Accounts;
• Works with customers, vendors, members of the legal team and other Emerson collaborators to bring deals to closure;
• Analyses business, financial, and legal risks;
• Researches information on existing agreements and contractual programs, assisting with analysis and compiling data for reports;
• Provides contract-related mentorship to Sales, Project Management, Procurement and other partners;
• Participates in the approval process to assist business owners in making informed decisions and secure appropriate approvals;
• Develops and communicates creative solutions and mitigation strategies to key negotiation points;

For This Role, You Will Need:

• 5+ years of work experience in a contracts-related role or a law firm or other shown experience in legal related activities
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in law or related field
• Completion of IACCM Sophisticated Contract and Commercial Management (CCM) Practitioner and IACCM "Oil & Gas Contracting in Practice" and/or China Bar examination strongly preferred
• Intermediate MS Office skills
• Excellent oral and written English language skills
• Excellent negotiation skills
• Extensive knowledge of Contract law & principles
• Commercial provisions such as warranty, liquidated damages/penalties, payment and freight terms, documentary credits and bank guarantees/sureties
• Occupational health and safety awareness.
