As a Laboratory Chemist, you will conduct essential testing and analysis in a state-of-the-art facility located in Artesia, New Mexico. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to quality assurance and compliance while working in a collaborative environment.
Role Overview
- Perform standard and specialized chemical tests on raw materials, intermediates, and finished products.
- Ensure testing procedures comply with established methods and documentation protocols.
- Record, report, and certify accurate test results in accordance with QA standards.
- Troubleshoot and perform maintenance and calibrations on laboratory equipment.
- Lead or support the development of QA protocols, new testing methods, and continuous improvement processes.
- Operate Chromatographs and manage hazardous sample shipments as required.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, environmental compliance, and other departments.
- Monitor emissions compliance (state certified) and support process/product blending as needed.
- Assist with environmental and compliance monitoring (including water sampling and hydrogen levels).
- Work with external labs for specialized or compliance testing.
Skills & Qualifications
- Proficient in laboratory instrumentation and methods.
- Familiarity with petroleum products and testing.
- Ability to diagnose and maintain lab equipment.
- Skilled in Microsoft Suite and lab documentation systems.
- Strong communication (written & verbal) skills.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to lead or mentor team members when needed.
Education & Experience
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or related field (required).
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a laboratory or chemistry-based role within industrial, petrochemical, or refinery environments.
