What are you going to do
Essential skills and knowledge
- Lead or support geotechnical assessments for active and closed tailings storage facilities (TSFs), waste dumps, and other mine infrastructure.
- Provide geotechnical input into design, risk assessments, slope stability analysis, dam safety reviews, and ongoing performance monitoring.
- Liaise with site-based teams, clients, and regulatory bodies to deliver geotechnically sound, compliant solutions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including hydrology, civil, environmental, and construction specialists.
- Participate in project management activities such as budgeting, reporting, proposal writing, and stakeholder engagement.
- Contribute to or lead technical reviews, innovation in practice, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential skills and knowledge
- A degree in Geotechnical, Civil, or Mining Engineering, with a strong focus on soil mechanics and geotechnical principles.
- 5+ years' experience in geotechnical engineering, ideally in tailings, dams, or mine infrastructure.
- Familiarity with applicable standards and guidelines (ANCOLD, CDA, etc.), and risk management practices in tailings engineering.
- Competence with geotechnical analysis tools (e.g. Slide, GeoStudio, FLAC, PLAXIS, or similar).
- Excellent communication and report writing skills.
- A mindset focused on safety, integrity, collaboration, and sustainable outcomes.
- Leadership experience or aspirations to step into technical leadership, mentoring, or team development are highly valued.
