Position Highlights
This Extended Temporary position is to assist the School of Mining and Mineral Resources review and improve existing and create new programming including curricula. This role will also create, or update documentation and procedures as needed, help develop and document best practices, and support grant proposals as needed.
This position is an Extended Temporary position that is expected to end 6 months from the start date with a possibility to extend to 1 year from the start date, contingent upon funding and performance.

Duties & Responsibilities

Program Development, Documentation and Quality Assessment:
  • Assist the Program Manager by gathering and organizing information related to student experience, program selection, enrollment, scholarships, internships, and job placement. Support research efforts by compiling existing data from reports and resources. Assist with basic documentation tasks, such as formatting and organizing updates for the website, brochures, and presentations. Help maintain records for new/pilot programs by following provided templates and guidelines.
  • Support the Program Manager in tracking and organizing information related to potential programmatic improvements, such as ESG initiatives. Assist in updating documentation for existing processes by reviewing materials and making edits as instructed.
  • Help compile and maintain records on methodologies and critical success factors for top-ranking organizations (QS, US News & World Report) by organizing existing data and updating documents as needed.

Curriculum:
  • Work with Curriculum Designer to create a standard process, checklist and any template materials for translating industry projects into academic courses (e.g. NGEA/MIN498).
  • Work with Education Outreach team to create requirements and specifications for 1-3 mining lesson plans to be developed in Minecraft.
  • Identify and pursue other ways to add real-world experience/context to courses including securing projects for MIN498 (Capstone) and evaluating opportunities to integrate the new AZGS core shack into courses to ensure students acquire the technical skills and real-world context they will require on the job.
  • Assist with design modifications for MIN226 to accommodate larger class size.

Grant Writing:
  • Assist the Education Outreach team and others as necessary with identifying and applying for grants.
  • Provide research support for various grant applications/proposal development.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of mining and mining education.
  • Ability to conduct research independently, summarize large amounts of information and communicate findings effectively.
  • Skilled at process documentation.
  • Ability to produce high quality reports and presentations.
  • Knowledge of program ranking platforms.
  • Knowledge of Environment, Social and Governance in mining.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • 1 year of relevant work experience required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with the student enrollment/matriculation process.
  • Experience with both undergrad and graduate programs.
  • Experience with the scholarship process.
  • Experience with the internship program.
  • Experience with courses in mining projects.
