Senior Building Facilities Maintenance Technician
What You Need to Succeed in this Role
High school diploma or GED plus two years of work experience in equipment repair, plumbing, HVAC, or electrical; or a comparable combination of education and experience may be considered for the "Building Facilities Maintenance Technician." Consideration for appointment as "Senior Building Facilities Maintenance Technician" requires four years of relevant work experience or a comparable combination of education and experience. Possession of a valid driver's license and must maintain a safe driving record. Able to participate in a rotating on-call schedule and necessitates carrying a cell phone for availability outside regular hours. Must be accessible throughout their assigned on-call shifts and must refrain from using drugs or alcohol during this time. Must pass a pre-employment background process. Experience with computer-aided statistical software and mapping products. Proficiency in electrical, HVAC, and plumbing principles, as well as repair methods and equipment. Familiarity with relevant codes and regulations. Ability to read blueprints, work independently, and communicate effectively. Willingness to work on-call and maintain a professional demeanor.

Health/Prescription - Minnehaha County's health benefit plan offers low deductibles with two network options for coverage: Avera or Sanford. The county pays for 75% of the premium rates. Pharmacy benefits included.
Dental - Minnehaha County offers dental insurance through Delta Dental which covers 100% of diagnostic and preventative services.
Life Insurance - Minnehaha County provides a $15,000 basic life insurance policy for every full-time employee along with and additional $15,000 accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) benefit. Additional term life insurance and AD&D may be purchased by employees for themselves and dependents through payroll deduction.
Retirement
Retirement Plan - Minnehaha County participates in the South Dakota Retirement System. Employees receive a 6% match (8% for certified law enforcement). Other SDRS benefits include long term disability. Employees are vested after 3 years of continuous employment.
Deferred Compensation Plan - Employees may choose to save additional funds toward retirement on a pre-tax or after-tax (Roth IRA) basis through our supplemental retirement program.
Paid Time Off
Paid Time Off - approximately 128 hours (16 days) per year
Holiday Leave - 11 days per calendar year

How You Will Make an Impact
- Perform semi-skilled installation, adjustment, and repair work on HVAC equipment.
- Maintain and repair boilers, chillers, roof top units, air handling units, VAV boxes, pneumatic controls, and DDC controls.
- Maintain the electrical and mechanical security systems. Troubleshoot electrical problems and motor controls.
- Operate equipment including bobcats, forklifts, lawn mowers, trucks, dump trucks, scissor lifts, boom trucks, generators, air compressors, chain hoists, and snow removal equipment.
- May perform other carpentry, electrical, and plumbing duties as needed including remodeling, floor work and repair, and maintaining and repairing locks, kitchen appliances, and doors.
